Fantasia Shocks Simon

American Idol season three champion Fantasia Barrino performed her new single ‘Bore Me’ during Wednesday’s elimination show of American Idol. The former champ shocked viewers with her bright red hair and a black bejeweled jumpsuit. It’s one of those things that you replay in your head (or your TiVo) just to check if it really happened. The best reaction may have come from Simon Cowell who was at the judges table looking aghast with his mouth hanging open. I guess he never expected his sweet little Fantasia of seasons past to turn out like that. Oh how the times have changed.

No Prison Wedding for Remy Ma

Remy Ma, whose real name is Reminisce Smith, is sitting tight in jail serving 8 out of the possible 25 years she was facing for shooting her friend, Makeda-Barnes Joseph, in the stomach. Oddly enough, the rapper was set to get married in jail over the last weekend to her fiancé Papoose (real name Shamele Mackie). However, the wedding was called off after a visitor was found with a handcuff key which could have easily opened handcuffs most law enforcement officials use. A corrections officer said that “The visitor was sanctioned by not being able to visit Rikers Island again for six months. He was asked to leave.” Luckily, the visitor wasn’t charged after he voluntarily surrendered the key to the authorities.

David Archuleta’s dad Banned from Show

It is being reported that American Idol contestant David Archuleta’s dad Jeff has officially been banned from the show. Sources say that Jeff has been a complete pain interfering with the entire production. From badgering producers, the band, vocal coaches and even the other contestants, someone has finally had enough. The final straw came when Jeff wanted to change the lyrics to David’s song ‘Stand by Me’ by adding Sean Kingston’s lyrics from ‘Beautiful Girls’. Producers were reportedly beyond pissed when David sang it on the show. Changing the lyrics caused problems with the song’s publisher and cost the show a lot of money. Jeff was ordered to sit with AI lawyers last week who told him he was “banned from being in the rooms where David was learning or rehearsing his songs.” He can sit in the audience during the live shows but he’s banned backstage.

Foxy Brown Pleads Out

Foxy Brown is trying to avoid going back in jail at all costs. It seems that the rapper, whose real name is Inga Marchand, has gotten a very lucky break as she plead out of her Blackberry assault case on Thursday. Oddly enough, she might not even have to go back to court for it. Foxy plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of menacing and the prosecution threw out the felony assault charge. She got off real easy to as she doesn’t have to serve time but just submit a letter of apology. Foxy has also plead out of her Florida case, where she’s accused of assault in a beauty salon.

Amy Winehouse Bails Out

Amy Winehouse got out of jail on bail on Wednesday night after being arrested on suspicion of drug violations. The 24-year old singer was arrested earlier that day and was questioned by police in East London in relation to the leaked video of her doing drugs. The Grammy-winner sat down for questioning voluntarily and has since been released on bail until later this month pending further inquiries. Her husband Blake Fielder-Civil is due to stand trial in June as he was charged with trying to pervert the course of justice and inflicting bodily harm during a brawl. Wino might not be able to support him if she’s in jail herself.

Publicity Didn’t Help Mariah Carey

Publicity Didn’t Help Mariah

Despite the massive amount of media attention that she received after her surprise wedding to Nick Cannon last week, Mariah’s new single ‘Bye Bye’ has dropped from #22 to #41 on this week’s Soundscan singles chart in America. People may be interested in her wedding but it seems like no one gives a crap about her single. It sucks for her. But congratulations goes out to Madonna whose single ‘4 Minutes’ is at #3 this week with her second single ‘Give It 2 Me’ debuting at #21. I wonder if anything good will happen to Mariah’s career if she suddenly announces that she was pregnant.

American Idol Top 4

The American Idol top 4 took to the stage this week singing songs by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. David Archuleta got the thumbs up from all three judges on his two songs ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘Love Me Tender’. The judges were split on Syesha Mercado’s songs ‘Proud Mary’ and ‘A Change is Gonna Come’. David Cook struck out with ‘Hungry Like the Wolf’ but came back strong with ‘Baba O’Reilly’. Jason Castro, however, just couldn’t catch a break by being too predictable with ‘I Shot the Sheriff’ and forgot the lyrics to ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’. At this point, that’s a big mistake for the dreadlocked Idol.

Kylie Minogue kicks off

Kylie Minogue kicked off her long-awaited tour

Kylie Minogue kicked off her long-awaited tour last night with ex-boyfriend Olivier Martinez in the audience.

The French actor – who split from the singer in February 2007 – joined 10,000 fans at Paris’ Bercy Stadium, in France, at the opening night of ‘KylieX2008′.

An onlooker said: ‘Olivier looked on very proudly as Kylie wowed fans with the show, which was spectacular.’

Kylie – who recently denied claims she had rekindled her romance with Olivier, insisting they were just friends - opened the show above the stage in a full-length purple gown amid green wires in a gold hoop as she performed ‘Speakerphone’ from her latest album ‘X’. As well as singing a host of her classic hits including ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ and ‘Step Back In Time’, the Australian beauty thrilled the crowd with her own version of Barry Manilow’s ‘Copacabana’.

The tour has cost over $20 million to stage and includes 53 dates across Europe, concluding with a six-night residency at London’s O2 arena ending in August.

It is her first full tour since being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. Kylie – who on Monday was pronounced a Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters in France – recently revealed she was counting down the days until the tour started.

The ‘Wow’ singer said: “The countdown has begun!! Not long now before opening night for ‘KylieX2008′!!!! My cast, crew and I have been working hard to really make this show ’spectacular’ for you. Full production rehearsals are coming up and we are very excited to merge all the various elements of the show.”

Pete Doherty has been released from jail

Pete Doherty has been released from prison.
Pete Doherty has been released from prison.

The Babyshambles singer was released from London’s Wormwood Scrubs at 7.10am this morning (06.05.08). He had served 29 days of a 14-week sentence for breaching his probation. Dressed in a suit and tie, he revealed outside the prison that he was pleased to be out and looking forward to having a rum and coke and spending time with his pet cats.

When asked if he had taken drugs in prison, the singer replied: “Well, I knew it was going to be a bit rough to start with, with the overcrowding and the medical facilities. Although they do their best - they are good, they can’t really cater for the average junkie.”

Pete also showed off a certificate stating he had passed a drugs test while in prison. The singer was jailed after breaching probation terms which required him to take part in a drug rehabilitation programme and make regular visits to court for progress reports.

He was jailed by District Judge Davinder Lachhar after it was revealed the rocker had regularly been late or missed probation appointments and had used various drugs.

Brits Choose Madonna

The British have made up their mind and the numbers definitely show that they prefer their adopted child Madonna over Mariah Carey. The chart results have recently been announced and the Queen of Pop’s new album ‘Hard Candy’ has topped the UK charts by coming in at the #1 spot. Mariah’s ‘E=MC2’ only managed to debut at #3 on the album charts. Additionally, Madonna’s ‘4 Minutes (To Save the World)’ is at #1 for a 3rd week on the UK singles chart. She doesn’t stop there as ‘Hard Candy’ also takes the top spot in more than 25 countries as more numbers roll in. Congratulations!

Amy Winehouse Still Sick

Amy Winehouse is still a mess and everyone around her knows it. The British pop wreck’s collaborator on ‘Back to Black’, Mark Ronson, was set to work with her for the theme song to the new James Bond flick but it didn’t pan out. Mark said “We did work on it but we never finished it. I don’t think it will happen unless by some miracle it gets recorded and someone sings on it. I’m not sure Amy is ready to work on music yet.” Wino’s rep released a politically correct statement about Mark’s comment saying “Mark presented a track to Amy, but she had other ideas about the direction it should take. We’re sure they will continue to make great music together.” I’m sure they will unless Wino ends up dead soon.

Lil Kim’s Repossessed Car

Lil Kim’s silver Bentley got repossessed earlier this week and it was filmed by New York’s CW11 for a report they have on repossessions. When the rapper was confronted by the reporters and cameras, she responded with “Oh please, get the fuck out of here. You are so fucking ridiculous.” She has some sort of a point there. It turns out that the car they got wasn’t even bought by Kim but was actually a gift to her. Now who the heck would give a way a Bentley? Enter Scott Storch. The car was supposedly given to Kim 4 years ago by the music producer as they allegedly had a very friendly relationship, if you know what I mean. It wasn’t just Kim that suffered in this repo deal. Scott also had his yacht repossessed recently. Ouch!
