Several music companies, recording artists and industry groups have formed a coalition to ask for compensation for performers when their music is played on the radio. This has been tried before but this time it is different. We now have artists Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Wyclef Jean and Don Henley among the many superstars asking for this. Mark Kadish, the coalition’s executive director said:
“The artists and the musicians and the community in general has come together to say now is really time to make sure that when music is played on the radio, that people who perform that music are paid fairly to do it.”
There are actually skim chances of success here. I bought several CDs after hearing a hit on radio and this is how many people did. Airing a song on radio can only be beneficial for performers so they should think about this as well before asking for something this ridiculous.
