Apparently, that dog won’t hunt. Arizona authorities who raided the home of rapper DMX last Friday revealed that a fine white powder they thought might have been an illegal narcotic has turned out to be nothing of the kind. The cops removed marijuana, drug paraphernalia, guns, ammunition, 12 starving dogs, and 3 dead, buried dogs from his house. He was also cited for carrying a concealed handgun last year and has two bench warrants out for him. What were the cops supposed to say when they saw the powder? “We’ll ignore that white stuff, it’s probably just baby powder, anyway.” Now I do like DMX, but anyone in their right mind would assume it was cocaine. DMX was probably surprised himself that it wasn’t cocaine, whether he really hadn’t been to his own house in 2 months or not. So the benefits of being a celebrity is more that apparent in this case and I won’t be surprised if he is let off in all the cases that are pending against him. This has been manipulated and once the cops say said that the power is not anything like drugs he is a free man.

Ne-Yo, who apparently writes hits, wrote a bunch of songs for Britney Spears and was going to help her get back. Britney, however, never returned any calls or said if she wanted his songs. So Ne-Yo sold his hits to Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. Damn! Britney lost “Umbrella” to Rihanna, the chick with the world’s biggest forehead, and then lost songs to a freaking Pussycat Doll? I don’t really listen to this kind of crappy music so I can’t say whether or not Ne-Yo is talented, but I can tell you he’s business savvy. Passing up on Britney Spears these days always seems like the smartest move, no matter what. And Britney going bust up is the easiest thing that she can manage to do, hahha. If ever people wanted to make a successful bet then the best chance is that one put a bet that within two days she gonna bust up or fire her manager or leave the kids in a hotel room while she has a good time in the pool. Make any bet with your pals on these lines and you could be a winner. Man I am off to secure my bet.

This Is Next is a new compilation series featuring today’s best independent artist. Based on the model of the popular “Now That’s What I Call Music” this is an attempt to show that there does exist good artist who can perform as well as any other in the business. Now folks, that’s what I have always said that there are more of good artist than what the record companies sign and showcase. Singers need not be associated with big record companies to create a platform; they can be relatively unknown and yet make a splash in the music world. If you have it in you and you aspire to make good music that people will listen then you can do it independently as well. You needn’t be a Madonna or Justin Timberlake to have music sales and huge payouts to make things work, all you need is a bunch of good musicians who want to do something extraordinary and success won’t elude you. This is Next and it could be a break through album, check it out.

Britney Spears is hotly tipped to make her live music comeback by opening the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas next month. Sources close to the pop superstar have revealed there’s a “very strong chance” the Toxic singer will perform a new song right at the start of the ceremony. I bet if she is slated to appear she’ll cancel at the last minute! Or they’ll announce her name for her to come out and Brit will be a no show! This will more than likely happen seeing as she’s canceled on alot of people recently! But oh well I really don’t care cause I just don’t watch MTV..just stating my opinion! Always My doubts are there for this singer coz every time there’s a positive story of her come back the very next day she proves herself to be more crazy and I don’t think she can come back like.

Sean Kingston’s summer hit Beautiful Girls continues to set the pace at the top of the U.S. charts, claiming a fourth week at number one. The Stand By Me revamp tops the new Billboard Hot 100, while Fergie, Timbaland and Plain White T’s stay fixed to numbers two, three and four. Great to have a your song at number one for four consecutive weeks top the charts. But what I’d like to know that with there being so many American Idol winners like Jordin Sparks and Kelly Clarkson why don’t we see them on the top of the charts, are they mere performers on the stage and can never convert their stunning wins in the TV show into major break-threw in album sales and create charting topping numbers. Looks like they can sing previous songs and sound good in the studios but can’t sing new songs until they have been sung by a Britney Spears or Gwen or other leading music artist. Poor that new talent is not achieving the heights and fulfilling the promise they earlier showed.

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will perform at the world premiere of the documentary “Body of War” at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11.

“Body of War,” directed by talk show legend Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro, chronicles the travails of Tomas Young, who was paralyzed by a bullet during his first week of military service in Iraq. Vedder contributed two origin
al songs to the film, “No More” and “Long Nights,” after meeting Young.
“No More” has been played live at a number of Pearl Jam shows, including the band’s sole U.S. show this year, when it headlined the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago on August 5.
After the September 11 premiere, “Body of War” will screen over the next four days in separate sessions for the media and general public. Another film with original Vedder songs, the Sean Penn-directed “Into the Wild,” is also screening at Toronto but it was not known if Vedder would be involved with any related events.
In other Pearl Jam news, Seattle band Brad, which features Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard, is expected to play a few local shows in October, according to frontman Shawn Smith’s blog.

Gwen Stefani was a good girl, just like she promised.
The 37-year-old pop star wowed fans in Muslim-majority Malaysia on Tuesday, performing in costumes that showed almost no skin after Islamic critics claimed that her revealing clothes could corrupt the country’s youth.
She burst onto the stage wearing a black leotard under a white short-sleeved shirt and black-and-white striped hot pants suit, with black gloves up to her elbows.
“I am very inspired tonight,” Stefani told some 7,000 cheering fans at an indoor stadium.
She changed costumes for every song, remaining fully covered as she belted out tunes such as “The Sweet Escape,” “Rich Girl,” “Wind it Up” and “Hollaback Girl.”
Stefani had promised to dress modestly after the 10,000-member National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students charged that her skimpy outfits and cheeky performances clashed with Islamic values.
The opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party also accused her of promoting promiscuity and corrupting the country’s youth.
In an interview with Galaxie, a local entertainment magazine, Stefani said she had made many changes for Malaysia, calling it a “major sacrifice.”
“I’ve been in the music industry for 20 years and this is the first time that I’m facing opposition from people who have misunderstood me,” she was quoted as saying.
“I’m not a bad girl,” she said.
Media photographers weren’t allowed to take pictures for copyright reasons, and those attending the show had to leave their cameras outside.
Most fans in the stadium said protesters had gone overboard with their criticism.
“I think they were making a big ho-ha for no reason. Even the local artists, they dress even much worse, much more indecent,” said Denise Chan, a 15-year-old ethnic Chinese.
Fans also said Stefani had shown respect for Malaysia’s cultural values.

It’s Beyonce’s world and we all just happen to live in it… no matter how much we hate it.
Beyonce was joined on the red carpet by her little sister Solange and her mom Tina to announce that she will be launching her junior apparel collection ‘Dereon’ in Toronto, Canada on Tuesday. That takes up the world of fashion.
Let’s head back to her roots in the music world now. On August 21, Beyonce will be releasing ‘Ireemplazable’. It’s an eight track Spanish language EP featuring select songs from Beyonce’s hit album ‘B’Day’.
B also has an unreleased duet with the beloved R&B singer Luther Vandross. That track will be featured in a new box set of the late singer’s hits. That album will be released in October.

My mom always told me to be careful about the jokes I make, because there’s usually truth behind them. And if my mom’s right, then Marc Anthony’s one-liners on the red carpet at the premiere of El Cantante makes it clear that he and Jennifer Lopez could be in a bit of a power struggle and that things may not be as simple as the duo say. Jennifer laughed a fake laugh — obviously a little uncomfortable that Marc would be so quick to point out that she was his boss. Marc laughed at his own jokes and as Jennifer seriously answered the question, Marc turned behind him to greet costar Leonor Varela, who had just arrived. As he got back to the interview, he deadpanned into the camera, “I was just kidding. We know who the boss really is.” Well we’ll soon know who the boss is, if the collections for the movie remain good and healthy then who ever the boss really is all that matters is the taste of sweet success.

It should be a normal incidence considering the lyrics of some of his songs, thus, no shock to us all. But with a shocked look on his face, the gorgeous Ricky Martin found himself being dry-humped by one of his female dancers in Puerto Rico this weekend.
Sporting some super tight pants, a blinged-out necklace and sassy belt, Ricky shook his hips for a concert at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico on Friday. He awkwardly bent one of his backup dancers over on-stage for some moves of the adult nature. While his dancer seems to be enjoying herself, Ricky looks terrified. Why is that?

Since 2004, Justin Timberlake has been known to be someone who is pretty ticked off with the paparazzi. But in an interview with the Australian Daily Telegraph, the SexyBack singer is trying to turn things around with a conciliatory approach toward the paparazzi that has hounded him for years.
“I feel like I’ve made my peace with a lot of that stuff now. I apologize for some of the things I’ve done in that process, people I’ve hurt. I don’t feel like I’m going out of my way to avoid that attention. If you want to take a picture of me, sure, I don’t feel like I’m going out of my way to avoid it, I just don’t want them to get in my personal space.”
Like that’s possible.

Few things would be more tedious to Suzanne Vega than being political in her work.
The American singer-songwriter, best known for early chart-topping hits such as “Luka” and “Tom’s Diner,” says she has strong political beliefs and she doesn’t mind airing them. But her work is first and foremost about people.
Vega is in Stockholm as part of a tour to promote her first album in six years, a collection of song-stories, many of which focus on New Yorkers in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.
“I can’t think of anything more boring than writing a song about the Democratic Party and how I’ll always vote Democratic,” Vega said in an interview.
“What I’d rather do is write about individual stories. And to me that’s the best political song.”
Vega hasn’t decided who she will vote for in the presidential election but she is watching the candidates.

“I like Hillary Clinton, I’ve seen her speak. I think she’s a brilliant woman. I think she would be very capable. Whether America could be led by her … I think there’s a large group of people who would resent her hugely and would act out in various ways.”
She is also full of praise for Clinton’s main rival, Barack Obama. “I like his thoughtfulness. And there’s a lot to like there.”
The New Yorker’s songs have always dwelled on the city’s whimsical and alienating qualities in equal measure. “Luka,” which addresses child abuse, catapulted her to international fame in 1987.
Three years later, a remixed version of “Tom’s Diner,” a quirky, urban monologue about relationships, reached number five in the United States and was a number one in several countries in Europe.
Vega would welcome having a huge hit single again, but she is more focused on just writing “really interesting, really cool songs” that express how she feels.
“Yeah, it would be great to sell a million records but I kind of feel that what my job is, is to write the songs and make them really good, and work with them and wrestle with them and sit in my room and work on them and walk on the streets and kind of feel things and put that into words.”
That process, in her case, sometimes takes a long time.
“I’m always working on a bunch of things at once and sort of figuring out, ‘Okay which one is going well today?”‘ she said. “So sometimes it can take 15 years between the beginning and the end of the song.”

Crossing Jordan star Jill Hennessy is pregnant with her second child
When asked at a party for Hamptons magazine on Saturday if she was expecting, the 39-year-old actress joked, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I think it’s just too much beer and burritos.” She then added, “No, no, no . . . I’m almost six months pregnant with a boy.”
Hennessy and her husband, Paolo Mastropietro, already have a 4-year-old son, Marco.
Of keeping the pregnancy news quiet for so long, Hennessy said, “I like to be sort of tentative about these things, but it’s definitely a boy. I’m still trying to find a name that goes with Mastropietro . . . maybe something Irish.” ?
As for her diet, she says she hasn’t had any odd pregnancy cravings. “I haven’t been eating anything strange. If anything, it’s more about what turns me off, anything fried – hamburgers, fried chicken.”?
Like many other mothers having their second child, Hennessy noted, “I’m definitely less worried, much more relaxed about it this time around. I’m still dying to meet this little person, but now I’ve got a pretty good idea about what will happen over the next few months and how uncomfortable I will be, especially if I go past my due date, which I did with Marco.”
Hennessey, who starred on Law & Order in the late 1990s before landing Crossing Jordan in 2001, is now focusing on her other love – music.
“I’m working on a CD. We should have it done by fall,” she said. But first on the agenda will be her newborn, she insisted, pointing to her bump. “I want to get some quality time with this dude, especially in the first few months of lactation, and then maybe even tour. Music is actually what I did before I acted.”

Soon to be grandfather Lionel Richie was leaving Koi a few nights ago and the topic of conversation with the paparazzi was, of course, his pregnant daughter Nicole.
One of the paps asked the crooner about how he felt about his daughter’s pregnancy. He replied with a wide smile and said ‘I’m happy, babe!’. Some might even say that he was dancing on the ceiling!
Moments before he got in his car to speed away into the night, another pap asked what song he would dedicate for Nicole. He chose ‘Three Times a Lady’. She could barely pass as 1, what the heck is he talking about?!

The reigning queen of neo-soul is back on the scene to shoo away people trying to claim her throne. Jill Scott is back and she is back with a vengeance. She will be releasing a new album, ‘The Real Thing: Words & Sounds vol. 3’ next month and from what I’ve heard so far, it’s going to be great.
The Philly native just updated her MySpace page with four songs from the new album. What’s greater about it is that the lead single ‘Hate On Me’ (which is what insecure people would do against her) is available for free download. Oh yeah!

Avril Lavigne is a douche and it’s no longer just a personal opinion. A radio DJ that has interviewed the singer and alleged song thief numerous times had to deal with her nastiness this weekend and the DJ couldn’t handle not blowing his top.
KISS FM DJ Billy the Kidd posted a message on his official myspace page last Monday with the title being ‘Some celebrities just suck’. He says that every time he has to deal with Avril is suck a pain in the ass. He wrote about how Avril doesn’t want to sit in the room to wait to go on the air and how her people clearing the hallway just so she can pass.
Someone needs to issue her a reality check. Just who does she think she is?
