Pete Doherty has been released from jail

Pete Doherty has been released from prison.
Pete Doherty has been released from prison.

The Babyshambles singer was released from London’s Wormwood Scrubs at 7.10am this morning (06.05.08). He had served 29 days of a 14-week sentence for breaching his probation. Dressed in a suit and tie, he revealed outside the prison that he was pleased to be out and looking forward to having a rum and coke and spending time with his pet cats.

When asked if he had taken drugs in prison, the singer replied: “Well, I knew it was going to be a bit rough to start with, with the overcrowding and the medical facilities. Although they do their best - they are good, they can’t really cater for the average junkie.”

Pete also showed off a certificate stating he had passed a drugs test while in prison. The singer was jailed after breaching probation terms which required him to take part in a drug rehabilitation programme and make regular visits to court for progress reports.

He was jailed by District Judge Davinder Lachhar after it was revealed the rocker had regularly been late or missed probation appointments and had used various drugs.

Brits Choose Madonna

The British have made up their mind and the numbers definitely show that they prefer their adopted child Madonna over Mariah Carey. The chart results have recently been announced and the Queen of Pop’s new album ‘Hard Candy’ has topped the UK charts by coming in at the #1 spot. Mariah’s ‘E=MC2’ only managed to debut at #3 on the album charts. Additionally, Madonna’s ‘4 Minutes (To Save the World)’ is at #1 for a 3rd week on the UK singles chart. She doesn’t stop there as ‘Hard Candy’ also takes the top spot in more than 25 countries as more numbers roll in. Congratulations!

Amy Winehouse Still Sick

Amy Winehouse is still a mess and everyone around her knows it. The British pop wreck’s collaborator on ‘Back to Black’, Mark Ronson, was set to work with her for the theme song to the new James Bond flick but it didn’t pan out. Mark said “We did work on it but we never finished it. I don’t think it will happen unless by some miracle it gets recorded and someone sings on it. I’m not sure Amy is ready to work on music yet.” Wino’s rep released a politically correct statement about Mark’s comment saying “Mark presented a track to Amy, but she had other ideas about the direction it should take. We’re sure they will continue to make great music together.” I’m sure they will unless Wino ends up dead soon.
