NKOTB Reality

VH1 is trying to jump on the New Kids on the Block comeback hype with their own special. They’re planning to do a 90-minute live special on the band called ‘New Kids on the Block: A Behind the Music Special Event’. The special is scheduled to air on September 28th at 8PM ET and the cameras will be with the guys as they get ready to perform at the TD Banknorth Garden in their hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. It’s going to feature the groups’ history along with old photos and documents. They’re also going to include current clips and footage shot by the band members. The live broadcast will also feature the first three songs of their sold-out concert. Basically, it’s a regular ‘Behind the Music’ with three live songs.

Musicians Stand Up to Cancer

13 of the world’s most famous female singers of this day pose with song creators/producers LA Reid and Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds at Fashion Rocks to sing the song ‘Just Stand Up’, the worldwide charity single which benefits Stand Up 2 Cancer. Keyshia Cole, Leona Lewis, Fergie, Ciara, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Rihanna, Carrie Underwood, Miley Cyrus, Ashanti, Nicole Scherzinger and Natasha Bedingfield are all decked out in their black Stand Up To Cancer t-shirts. The group said in its mission statement that “For the first time we can envision the possibility of stopping cancer in its tracks. But just when science is on the verge of giving us the breakthroughs that can end cancer, the will and the funding to do so are disappearing from the national agenda and from our collective consciousness.”

Rihanna Goes Down Under

Rihanna and Chris Brown will be heading to New Zealand next month for a couple of performances at Auckland’s Vector Arena and Wellington’s TSB Arena. The tour then heads over to Australia. This marks the first performances for either singer in these countries and the first time they have held a joint concert. What, they can’t tour without their significant other now? Regarding the concerts, Rihanna says “I think it’s whack if you tell people what you’re going to do on set because then nobody has the interest in coming to see it. It’s all about not knowing what to expect. I don’t want to give away my show … Just expect Chris is gonna be there!”
