One of the most highly anticipated albums in rock history, the long-awaited Chinese Democracy (Black Frog/Geffen Records) will be available globally on November 23 on CD and vinyl (accompanied by a free digital download of the tracks), and as a separate digital album.
Produced by Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo, Chinese Democracy includes 14 tracks. The title track and first single from the album, “Chinese Democracy”, was released to radio at 5:00AM eastern time today. Two of the recordings have been recently released–“Shackler’s Revenge” debuted September 14 in the “Rock Band 2” videogame and “If The World” debuted October 11 in the film Body Of Lies.
“The release of Chinese Democracy marks a historic moment in rock ‘n’ roll,” said Irving Azoff and Andy Gould, Guns N’ Roses’ co-managers, “and we’re launching with a monumental campaign that matches the groundbreaking sound of the album itself. Guns N’ Roses fans have every reason to celebrate, for this is only the beginning.”

It looks like there’s a lot more than just making videos going on in the set of TI’s new music video ‘Live Your Life’ featuring Rihanna. According to US Weekly, Chris Brown was there during the shoot and cuddled up to the sexy Barbadian singer between takes. Also, during a dance scene, TI accidentally hit Rihanna but she was a trooper about it. An onlooker reports “She just laughed, rubbed her face and rejoined the singing.” Well, what can she do? It’s not like her boyfriend looks like the guy who can stand up to TI. We’ve got the clean cut Chris against the convicted TI. It’s pretty obvious she just had to brush it off.

Justin Timberlake and girlfriend Jessica Biel got the crowd going at the ‘Last Chance for Change’ rally in Las Vegas recently. Justin told the crowd “This is not my usual stage — and I’m a little nervous. This is the first time in my life that I am endorsing a political candidate. I’m not here as a musician or an actor or that guy that writes songs. I’m not here as a Democrat or a Republican. I’m here as an American. I’m not here to tell you what to think but I urge you to think. I’m supporting Barack Obama because I’m inspired by him, by his voice, his intellect, his leadership and his judgment.”

MTV and their Choose or Lose campaign have partnered up with CNN to support veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. On October 24th, ‘A Night for Vets: An MTV Concert for the BRAVE’ will air at 8PM on MTV. The show’s name is a reference to the petition MTV and several veterans’ organizations created called the Bill of Rights for American Veterans (BRAVE). Some of the celebrities that will take part include 50 Cent, Ludacris and Saving Abel, Kanye West, Kid Rock, Fall Out Boy, Angels and Airwaves, Nelly, Juanes and Taylor Swift. The president of MTV said “It doesn’t matter where you stand on the war, we can all agree that young veterans serving our country must receive the benefits they’ve earned for their sacrifices. We aim to elevate these issues and ensure they’re a top priority for our government officials.”

Billboard is reporting that the Black Eyed Peas will finish recording their fifth album “The E.N.D.” at Metropolis Studios in London. Don’t be misled by the title as it doesn’t mean that the band is breaking up. Will.i.am clears it up by saying “No, no — it stands for ‘The Energy Never Dies.” He goes on to say that he’s tempted to release the album this year because this will be the last year were physical sales are significant. Will.i.am also goes on saying “We’re just finishing the songs and collaborating with the software guys. I’m tired of making songs for the radio and for MTV. You should make songs for where songs are actually being listened and played.”

A couple of fans have commented on ‘Paper Planes’ crooner MIA’s recent performance at the Diesel xXx party in Brooklyn. Apparently, they were shocked when they saw the singer sporting a big baby belly at the party. I guess this is the reason why the hipster music fave announced her so-called retirement this past summer. After her recent engagement, it should be safe to assume just that. It would have been easier to have just come out with the pregnancy instead of the retirement story. But then again, she gets more publicity for the latter. Congratulations go out to her for the engagement and the baby either way.

Katy Perry is featured on the November 2008 cover of Blender. The ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer talked about growing up with God, her battle with alcohol, dating a thug and the girls of ‘The Hills’. You really get a great perspective of her by the way she talks of her relationship with Gym Class Heroes front man Travis McCoy where she said “He’s thug-nificent. I can’t believe I got a thug to commit!… We weren’t really together, it was casual. But soulless hooking up didn’t seem so hot to me. I always wanted to have a romance. I said “Excuse me, I’ve been coming to a number of your shows in the greater Los Angeles area for quite some time now. I’ve been your Penny Lane long enough, and now I want to be your Grace Kelly.”

According to Vibe and its readers, Eminem is the Greatest Rapper Alive. Though the once very outspoken rapper has been keeping to himself lately, Eminem still beat out all of today’s hot acts. Over 920,000 votes were cast and rappers were eliminated tournament style until it was down to Eminem and Jay-Z. Em came out the winner with 69% of the votes. Em said in a statement “It’s obviously an honor to have won the fans’ support by being voted the Best Rapper Alive. I don’t think that there is any one rapper that is simply the best, though. Everyone who was in consideration and many others are the best at certain things, and at what they do. But since Vibe’s offering the distinction, hell yeah, I’ll accept!”

Beyonce was supposed to deliver the tracks of her new album at the start of this month in order to make its November release but things are looking a little shaky. A source tells Rush & Molloy that it’s going to be a close one because of the singer’s acting schedule, for one, and because of the duet with Justin Timberlake took a lot of time to do. It’s going to be an issue if she doesn’t get it out early in the fourth quarter. Her label chief at Sony says that the album will come out on time and that the first two singles off of the album will be utterly huge. Maybe the Justin track will be one of the first two singles.

Nothing in life is free, unless you’re famous. But even freebies can put you in trouble as Metallica’s bass player is finding out. The band’s bassist, Robert Trujillo, is in the middle of a serious legal battle. He had an existing promotional deal with Fernandes Guitars in North Hollywood. For being able to use his likeness in advertising, the company was giving Robert a pile of custom basses. However, Metallica has its own promo deal with ESP Guitars and now that Robert is part of the band, their lawyers have slapped Fernandes with a cease and desist letter demanding that they no longer use Robert or Metallica’s name or likeness.

Britney Spears first single off of her much anticipated sixth studio album ‘Circus’ was supposed to hit radio on September 22. However, the single ‘Womanizer’ ended up getting delayed. The reason for the delay seems to be because of a leak. Maybe feedback on the leak wasn’t so good because the label decided that the song needed to go back to the editing room. Well, that was a big disappointment. I hope it doesn’t hurt her too much. Oh well, there’s still some room for her to gain some momentum before her album gets released on December 2nd. Let’s hope she succeeds with her comeback.

50 Cent recently sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone where he discusses his upcoming album and film which are both entitled ‘Before I Self Destruct’. The film is based on the music from the album. 50 seems to be taking his work very seriously as he explains that he wants the film to be an accurate representation of his life and its causes and effects. He says that while most films about certain lifestyles fail to portray the consequences, he “showed characters under pressure in scenarios where they felt like there were no other options, even though there were… There are always options. People just usually start to see them while being incarcerated - for not seeing them in the first place.” Oddly enough, don’t expect to hear any of the music on the soundtrack though as he wants the film to remain free of Interscope’s ownership.

Janet Jackson is now without a label as she is no longer with Island Def Jam Music Group. She isn’t releasing any info regarding if she was dropped though. The report of the split comes from producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins. He confirmed that Janet is now a free agent. He adds “We didn’t get the support from the record company.” He also said that Janet “felt like it wasn’t pushed. I felt like it wasn’t pushed correctly. She just didn’t get her just-do as an artist of that magnitude.” He also talked about her future saying “I could make an album with her, possibly me, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis. Keep it real simple. They focus on what they’re great at, I focus on what I’m great at. We come together and make a classic Janet record.”
