Award shows and their after parties are suffering from the crappy economy. Several insiders are already complaining about the scaled-down and lack of record company parties after the Grammys. Warner Bros. is apparently out on the celebrations. An insider says “Sony BMG may do a little bash for 100 people, but it’s nothing on the scale of what they used to have. And if Universal does decide to do something, it will be really haphazard and last-minute.” A rep for Sony BMG said “In this economic climate, it’d be inappropriate to have a big gala. We’d prefer to funnel right into artists directly.”
