Zac Efron says goodbye to musicals

Zac Efron is saying goodbye to a lot of things these days and that’s not only the High School Musical hit. The teener may have gotten tired of the song and dance routine that he has even said goodbye to the remake of Footloose which would have starred him. Zac Efron said he had such fun doing 17 Again that he has decided to go in that direction. Well, isn’t that a little too late to have a change of mind when everybody was convinced he was going to star in Footloose?
True to his words, Zac Efron seems to be taking that direction as he has just signed for the movie adaptation of Ben Sherwood’s novel “The Death & Life of Charlie St. Cloud”. This movie is no musical and is about the power to communicate with the dead. Zac Efron said it may be a little grim but it is a fantastic story and a little more grown-up. Well, we’re starting to believe that Zac Efron’s decision to bow out of Footloose is indeed a career decision but the wisdom of that decision still remains to be seen.
Jonas Brothers at Kids’ Choice Awards

Nick, Kevin and Joe of the Jonas Brothers posed for photographers at the 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards held at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion on Saturday night in Westwood, California. The band of brothers took to the stage to perform as well. In other news, they also took over Radio Disney on Friday afternoon as they put on an acoustic performance. They also talked about their upcoming tour saying “We’ve got new songs, new production elements and new instruments as well. In this new record, we tried to add some different sounds. We’ve been working a lot with horns. After we did the Grammy performance with Stevie Wonder, we had the five horn players behind us. We were like, ‘We should do this to our music and add this different sound to it.’ We incorporated it in our record and we’ll be playing with them this summer!”
Britney Spears Site Ordered to Shut Down

Britney Spears looks oh so hot as she tosses her hair as she rocks out a performance in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Friday night. In other related Britney news, the 27-year old recovered pop singer’s dad, Jamie Spears, has sent a notice to BreathHeavy.com, one of Britney’s fan sites, to shut down by 3PM on Saturday or face an injunction. The site has been very critical of the conservatorship arrangement with Jamie, who makes $18,000 a month to keep his daughter in line. And I guess whoever ran that site got scared because it is now off of the world wide web.
Tattoo artist BangBang gives Rihanna a bang-bang

Has Rihanna turned from being a victim of violence to becoming an advocate of violence? Check out Rihanna’s latest tattoo under her right armpit. tattoo artist BangBang had the honor to mark Rihanna’s skin with the image of a gun. BangBang said the gun tattoo is very strong and very powerful. Sad to say, Rihanna could not use it to protect her the next time she becomes the object of Chris Brown’s violent tendencies.
BangBang, who claimed responsibility for the design, said the design was based on a piece of jewelry which Rihanna was wearing. Rihanna seems to be getting enamored with guns since the tattoo was based on a necklace with the same little gun on it. The tattoo artist however denied that the tattoo design reflects Rihanna’s recent violent experience with Chris Brown. This is not the first time that Rihanna has experienced BangBang’s art because prior to the gun tattoo, she also had Roman numerals on her shoulder, a Sanskrit script on her hip and the Shh on her finger.
Bono’s U2 fears

The front man from U2 fears that the band’s current world tour might turn out to be their last. Bono had this to say about the future of U2: “We want to play for each other as much as we want to play for the crowd this time. You just don’t know how long you are going to be doing this. When we walk out on stage, the hairs on people’s necks go up - but what people don’t know is that the hairs on our necks go up too.” That going up of the hairs thing must be from the static electricity. Still, Bono does put up the problem very seriously… I wonder if he actually believes it. But either way, he should look on the bright side: no more band, much more time for all of his other projects and ambitions. Come to think of it, this might actually spark the beginning of Bono’s long awaited dictatorship. 
MIA is Back to Work

Amy Winehouse will not be performing at this year’s Coachella music festival because she’s been denied a work visa due to all her legal troubles. However, her replacement is more than capable of drawing in just as big a crowd, or maybe even bigger. MIA has been booked for the second night of Coachella and will take the stage on April 18th. I can’t believe she’s going back to work considering she just gave birth last month. But I guess there’s just no stopping a musician who loves to perform. This is the same rapper that performed at the Grammy’s on the day her baby was due.
American Idol Down to 9

Michael Sarver is the latest American Idol to get the boot as the show’s four judges declined to keep him around for at least one more week. The former oil rig worker was smiling all throughout the show even when he was announced as the week’s lowest vote-getter. Michael joked about doing an encore saying “Now I have to sing after Stevie. Oh, crap,” as he had to sing after a medley of songs performed by the Motown legend. The 27-year old seemed much more at ease with his encore performance than he was during the competition and it almost seemed that the judges were going to use their one-time save on him. However, Simon Cowell said that Michael really was going home. Michael seems perfectly fine with the voters’ and judges decisions though as he now gets to spend more time with his family while he waits to go to the American Idol tour later this year.
New Ciara Video

Check out the new Ciara video for her smash hit single ‘Love Sex Magic’ which features Justin Timberlake. The single is from her album ‘Fantasy Ride’ which will hit stores in May 5. The video for the electrified dance track was directed by Diane Martel and Ciara herself. And if you haven’t heard the song yet, here’s a sample of her lyrics: “So let me drive my body around you/ I bet you know what I mean/ Cause you know that I can make you believe/ In love and sex and magic.” Although, I’m not sure how you won’t be familiar with the song. It’s practically everywhere!
Jennifer Hudson Back on American Idol

Fox is yet to confirm it but Jennifer Hudson is reportedly appearing on American Idol in an intimate performance. Sources say that she taped it after Wednesday’s results show and the performance will then be broadcast at a later date. The ticket voucher allegedly states “second taping of Wednesday is the LIVE performance show with special performances by Jennifer Hudson and Ruben Studdard”. Ruben has been a confirmed guest for a while. Following the alleged appearance, Jennifer will be a guest on Thursday’s Ellen DeGeneres show as a part of a string of high profile spots to kick off her upcoming tour with Robin Thicke.
Single File Join Alkaline Trio, Unveil Girlfriends

Single File rock, and their new website is here to prove just that! The brand new site, www.SingleFileRock.com, was launched along with news that the band is set to rock the stage with Alkaline Trio and Saves The Day for a string of dates in late April and the early days of May leading into the famed Bamboozle fest on May 3rd.
The rock continues on for Single File as they release Common Struggles, their major label debut, on April 7th. The album, produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, The All-American Rejects, Less Than Jake) features the quirky pop-rock track “Mannequin Loveseat” as well as the just released album single “Girlfriends.” The new single is sure to be a hit as it channels the likes of Weezer, Plain White T’s and all that’s right with modern pop-rock.

Fergie To Perform for NCAA

Fergie kept it cool in shorts and sandals on a sunny Thursday as she stopped in for some shopping at West Hollywood boutique Maxfield. The 33-year old recently married singer will join the Pussycat Dolls, Staind, Gym Class Heroes and Gavin DeGraw as headlining acts for The Big Dance. The Big Dance is a three-day concert series which will take place during the NCAA Final Four basketball championship in Detroit. In other Fergie news, the singer has been busy working on Black Eyed Peas’ latest record ‘The END’. I wonder if her performance at The Big Dance will feature a surprise guest spot for the rest of her band mates.
Canadian fans cheer Britney Spears

Continuing with her North American tour ‘Circus’ made its presence felt in Toronto on March 18 with a superlative and rocking performance from Britney Spears which felt fans gathered at the Air Canada Centre enthralled.
She belted out hit numbers like ‘gimme more’, ‘womanizer’ and others while she went through her routine of cage dancing and wearing ring master costumes. The songstress was in top form as she sang and danced her way through hit numbers.
But what’s really catching headlines is her reportedly turning down a $3 million offer to write her autobiography, the singer wants $8 million to pen a tell it all book.
Guess this girl needs the money because she knows that trouble is always round the corner with her and she has lost a fortune fight the divorce and custody case with ex-hubby Kevin so she is filling up the empty banks once more time.
Leona Lewis is a well paid performer

The “X-Factor” winner was recently paid 1.5 million dollars to perform at a private party for a billionaire’s daughter. Leona Lewis’ performance John Caudwell’s, founder of Phones4U, daughter Libby. A source described the event: “It was a night Libby will certainly never forget. It was like a dream. She has not stopped talking about it ever since. Libby knew something was going to happen, but she just couldn’t believe it when Leona walked on the stage. Like most girls of her age, Libby is a massive fan of Leona. But most fans have to make do with listening to her tracks — not doing a duet with her.” Wow! Looks like winning a televised and nationally acclaimed talent show does have its perks! Would that the bards of old made as much a coin from one performance at a royal court as Leone Lewis did at naught but a noble’s bash. 
Taylor Swift is Alluring

Taylor Swift looks positively stunning on the cover of the April 2009 issue of Allure magazine. In the accompanying interview, the country singing sweetheart talks about not wanting to talk about sex, bad relationships being points of inspiration, fairy tales being a big inspiration and looking at a not-so-happy ending in a more appealing light. If you can’t tell already, Taylor has a penchant for writing about heartbreak. She explains that by saying “For some reason, I could never, ever stop writing songs about heartbreak. Just because as human beings, what we can’t have is what we replay in our head over and over again before we go to sleep.”
Madonna’s 4th Greatest Hits Disc

Madonna seems like she’s looking to get out of her Warner Brothers contract as soon as possible. With a big money deal and new label at Live Nation, the Queen of Pop is going to release yet another greatest hits album on her current label before she jumps ship. Her last greatest hits disc came out back in 2006 and according to her manager Guy Oseary, a fourth is already being compiled. Sources also say that Madonna will be recording some new material for the latest Greatest Hits compilation. Why don’t they just release Blonde Ambition or Sticky & Sweet tour on DVD?
Pussycat Dolls Premiere Jai Ho Video

Pussycat Dolls have just premiered the video for their version of A R Rahman’s Oscar winning “Jai Ho!” “It was such a great honor to be able to re-write my own version of the lyrics,” said Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger who worked with producer Ron Fair on the new interpretation of the track. The Dolls shot the video for “Jai Ho - You Are My Destiny” at an abandoned train station museum in snowy Vienna with director Thomas Kloss - Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus.

Demi Lovato Releases Don’t Forget Video

Check out Demi Lovato’s just released video for “Don’t Forget. “ The video for the heartfelt ballad was shot at Griffith Park in Los Angeles, CA and features Demi rocking out in the rain. “Don’t Forget” is the title track off of Demi’s debut album and will appear on her new Deluxe Edition due out on March 31st along with two brand new songs, behind the scenes content and making of the video footage. Alexis Grace is out of the picture - American Idol

The American Idol contestant has unfortunately left the contest last evening. She was the last of the voters’ choices and the judges did have every intention of using their “save” option for her, but apparently her rendition of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” was not up to their expectations. As big daddy Simon Cowell said about Alexis Grace’s performance: “It was good, but it wasn’t good enough.” And that was it for Alexis Grace, the end of the long road… and now the beginning of the long road home. But wait! She gets to go to the American Idol Summer tour which is definitely a very nice consolation prize for the top 10 finalists and not just some cheap publicity thing.
New Pussycat Dolls Video

The Pussycat Dolls have recently premiered the video for their version of the Oscar winning song ‘Jai Ho!’ by AR Rahman. The Dolls shot the video for ‘Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)’ at an abandoned train station museum in snowy Vienna with director Thomas Kloss, who has previously done videos for Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus. While I think the song is amazing, there may be trouble brewing amongst the girls. While there’s no question about the English title of the single, there’s some question about the by line as some reports say that the single is by AR Rahman featuring Nicole Scherzinger and not the whole group.
