Beyonce is toasting box-office success, as her latest film is the weekend’s biggest-opening movie.
Her new movie, Obsessed took $28.5 million at the US and Canadian theatres, knocking Zac Efron movie, 17 Again off the top spot.
In Obsessed, Knowles plays a woman whose marriage is threatened by a woman hired as a temp in her husband’s office. Ali Larter and Idris Elba, from the HBO series The Wire, co-star.
Among other new entries, The Soloist, featuring Robert Downey Jr and Jamie Fox debuted in fourth spot with $9.72 million.
The Soloist is based on the real-life friendship between Los Angeles Times’ columnist Steve Lopez (Downey Jr) and a homeless violinist portrayed by Foxx.
