Carrie Underwood has had picture perfect success recently. While the 26-year old American Idol alum has seen nothing but that since she started her professional career, she’s still giving us reminders that she’s on top. Carrie was revealed to have raked in $14 million last year. She was far and away the top earner for all Idol alums. Jennifer Hudson came in second with $5 million, Kelly Clarkson with $4.2 million, Jordin Sparks with $3.1 million and rounding out the top 5 was Kellie Pickler with $2.3 million. Hmm, I wonder why David Cook and David Archuleta aren’t on the list.

After Adam Lambert’s performance with the rock legends Queen on the American Idol finale last week, Queen guitarist Brian May told Rolling Stone magazine that the band is toying around with the idea of the runner up becoming the band’s permanent front man. May said “”…[Drummer Roger Taylor] and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with [Lambert] at some point. It’s not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn’t that easy. But I’d certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there.” It just goes to show that losing American Idol isn’t the end of the world.

Katy Perry was recently interviewed in the new issue of British Cosmo. She talked about relationships and being single, with the singer saying “I don’t like being single, no. I live this fantastic life, full of all these magical things, and at the end of the day all I want to do is pick up my phone and share it with someone. The other day I’d sold a million records in the U.S. and I didn’t have anyone to tell. It was actually a really lonely moment.” I thought she was dating Josh Groban? I guess that really is just a rumor. Too bad, I thought they really looked cute.

The prime suspect in the shooting and murder of rapper Dolla last week in Los Angeles has pleaded not guilty. The rapper was shot at the valet stand of the Beverly Hills Center shopping mall in LA last week and later died of his injuries at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. The suspect, Aubrey Berry, claims that “he shot Dolla out of fear for his own life after an altercation at an Atlanta nightclub a few weeks ago.” Why he had to follow Dolla all the way to Los Angeles just to protect himself? Berry remains in jail on $5 million bail after the LAPD caught the suspect trying to leave on a flight leaving from Lax with a 9mm gun in his waist band.

Lady Gaga is an artist through and through. The ‘Poker Face’ singer insists that she will never lip synch in a performance no matter how difficult the song or dance routine. She said “I would never even think about it (lip synching). The whole point to me is, if you’re gonna be number one, you better really be fucking number one. If you’re gonna be on top, you better be able to do all those things, because it’s a real privilege to be able to make music everyday, and I get away with a lot…Andy Warhol says art is what you can get away with, and I get away with a lot with my music and my clothes, and I work really hard so I could truly be a real artist for all my fans. That’s really fucked up when you lip-synch.”

Joe Jonas has just been hailed as InStyle’s ‘HeartthrobJon’ in its June 2009 issue. The 19-year old Jonas Brothers member has become one of the biggest teen idols of this time. The singer said “It feels great when you’re on stage and girls are screaming for you. I become a different person.” When asked what he thought was sexy, Joe replied “I like Spanish music and the female singers. I can’t understand what they’re saying, but as a songwriter I get it.” When he was asked who his celebrity crush was, Joe said “Daniel Craig.” I wonder what his girlfriend, actress Camilla Belle, thinks about that.

21st Century Breakdown, Green Day’s highly-anticipated eighth studio album, was released worldwide on Friday May 15th, by Reprise Records. The album is the follow-up to 2004’s two-time Grammy Award-winning punk-rock opera American Idiot, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, and went on to sell more than 12 million copies worldwide.
The album’s first single, “Know Your Enemy” is already capturing the imagination of listeners across the country. It has been No. 1 at Alternative radio for three weeks and is the band’s ninth No. 1 single at the format, making them the artist with the second most No. 1’s of all-time at Alternative.
Green Day, which is singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, are preparing to launch their first proper tour of the United States and Canada in more than three years. The tour begins July 3rd at Seattle’s Key Arena and will cross North America through the summer, including a July 27th stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, before finishing up with a show at the Forum in Los Angeles on August 25th. Atlanta-based rapper Dolla, aka Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot and killed at the Beverly Center shopping mall in Los Angeles this past Monday. The rapper was only 21 years old. Burton was waiting at the mall’s valet stand with a friend and fellow rapper DJ Shabbazz when he was shot in the head. He later died of his injuries at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Witnesses reportedly saw a woman fire the shots and 2 suspects flee the scene in a Mercedes Benz SUV and a Nissan Altima. Police caught up with one of the suspects at LAX and promptly arrested him. Dolla was most known for his track ‘Who the Heck is That?’ featuring T-Pain and Tay Dizm. My condolences go out to Dolla’s family and friends.

The American Idol season finale decided to go with a bit of comedy this year when they had the American Idol Awards. Awards were given out to Outstanding Male, Best Attitude and Outstanding Female. Outstanding Male was given to Nick Mitchell aka Norman Gentle. He performed his horrific comedy singing for laughs again. Outstanding Female was given to Tatiana del Torro. I was laughing so hard as everyone watched her being chased by security to get her to stop singing. Best Attitude was given to Katrina Darrell aka Bikini Girl. As she was performing ‘Vision of Love’, judge Kara DioGuardi came on stage to sing and make her look a fool! Biggest surprise there was when Kara ripped her dress open and showed off her bikini too! It was apparently a dare from producers who were donating money to Kara’s favorite charity after her strip.

While most are calling Kris Allen’s win over Adam Lambert an American Idol upset and some are thinking that Kris was the right choice when it comes to the marketability, some are also saying that Adam was done a big favor by not being named the winner. For one thing, Adam won’t be stuck singing the song ‘No Boundaries’ for the next six months to a year. Considering that it was co-written by Kara DioGuardi, it’s a sucky song. It’s pretty much a given that Adam is going to get a record deal. The challenge now is for him to make a great album that not only has his stamp but is also marketable. It then comes to who’s going to last in the cut throat music industry.

For the final song to be sang in competition on American Idol season 8, both Adam Lambert and Kris Allen tried their chops at the winner’s coronation song ‘No Boundaries’. The song was written by Kara DioGuardi. The problem is that the lyrics suck. And they say she’s one of the best producers of this day. Adam did a pretty good job on it but Kris seemed to have a hard time trying to hit the higher notes of the song. It somehow made me think that the song was specifically chosen to make Adam shine brighter. We all know that Kris is better off in his lower and mid registers.

The favorite of the two American Idol finalists chose to repeat his most dazzling performance to date: his rendition of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World”. The arrangements were almost the same and so were the reactions. Randy gave Adam Lambert’s performance an A+ and Kara said the following about it: “You changed the game up for every other contestant … you rocked it again tonight!” Simon Cowell thought it was too theatrical this time, but what can you expect from him, eh? It was an interesting move on Adam Lambert’s behalf, and what’s more interesting is that it seems to have worked. Kris Allen seems to have his work cut out for him.

The music mogul’s mother recently told the story about how Simon Cowell used to be a very nasty kid. Julie Cowell said the following about her son: “He was a difficult child, he knew what he wanted and sent you crazy getting it. He was one of those children who made up their mind from an early age and was very competitive as a child.” Still, this doesn’t explain why Simon Cowell is such a harsh critic nowadays. Or maybe he’s just being that way because deep down inside he’s still a frustrated little kid that can’t get what he wants. Either way, it’s only those poor saps on American Idol and Britain’s Got Talent that have to suffer for it.

Peter Andre wants to reunite with Katie Price:
The singer has recently also released another statement in which he says that he would like to reunite with Katie Price, even though he still does not think too highly of her. Peter Andre said: “I left Kate because at times she behaved like a complete tart, but this isn’t just about her or me. The most important thing in our lives are our children. It would be best if we were reunited.” It seems that now the publicity problem was dealt with, Peter Andre wishes to once again bring balance to his universe. Still, it is a tad too soon to be reorganizing things, it kind of makes the publicity theory more possible. Or was Peter Andre expecting every one to be too surprised to notice?

The singer apparently has the very cute… albeit strange habit, of leaving her long eyelashes for her lovers after sex. Lady GaGa said: “Whenever I have a lover I leave them in their apartment on the pillow. Kind of like a keepsake.” That’s cool… and a bit suspicious, one might add. Sure it’s a token of somewhat emotional attachment, but maybe it’s also a sort of witch charm… you know, for good luck and all of the wonderful things that witches bring with them. But knowing Lady GaGa it’s most likely just another manifesto of good, wholesome art right from the bowels of the soul.

The famous hip-hop star and the R&B singer are apparently very much in love with each other. Swizz Beats said the following about his new relationship with Alicia Keys: “What we have is so precious. But we’re nowhere ready for a baby or a ring.” True, very wise words on Swizz Beats’ behalf… after all, what precious thing comes with those kinds of commitments, especially considering the bitter divorce Swizz Beats is facing. He’s probably not going to be pulling that stunt too soon, but for now, Alicia Keys is his own little precious charm. The only question that remains is for how long this will be a reality.

When it comes to Amy Winehouse, it’s two steps forward and three steps back. The singer may have managed to get off the drugs while she’s on permanent vacation in St. Lucia but according to her father Mitch, “it’s alcohol instead of drugs” now. He also said that after seeing his daughter come so close to death before on account of drugs, “to see her walking, smiling” is a relief that comes cautiously since he realizes that it’s ultimately up to Wino to get better. He said “I’ve decided to distance myself, and whatever happens, happens. It’s her life. It’s her career. It’s her decision.”
