Paula Abdul reveals painkiller addiction nearly killed her

Paula Abdul admits her 12-year battle with painkiller addiction left her feeling like “killing herself”.

The American Idol judge says she took the painkillers to combat chronic pain, following years of cheerleading and dancing injuries.

"I could have killed myself," Abdul told this month’s issue of Ladies’ Home Journal.

"The withdrawal was the worst thing. I was freezing cold, then sweating, then chattering and in so much pain, it was excruciating.

“But at my very core, I did not like existing the way I had been."

Abdul also survived a 1992 car crash and a 1993 plane crash, which left her needing 15 operations on her spine.

The Idol star, who insists she never went on the show under the influence of any illegal drug, once wore a patch that delivered pain medication 80 times more powerful than morphine.

Abdul says she finally gave up the painkillers last November during a stay at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Calsbad, California.

Rumored New Madonna Music

Sources have revealed some juicy tidbits about the bonus material on Madonna’s upcoming greatest hits collection, her last album for Warner Bros. Insiders say that the superstar DJ/producer Paul Oakenfold has been in the studio in New York City producing the bonus tracks for the Queen of Pop’s forthcoming greatest hits album. The DJ himself says that the music is “Cutting edge sounds combined with classic Madonna.” I can’t wait to hear it! Madonna is already in a league of her own but bring in Paul and you’ve got something explosive. I bet that they’re both going to give us some great dance tunes.

No Doubt Live

Front woman Gwen Stefani and the rest of her band No Doubt reunited and rocked out the stage in a two-song set during Friday morning’s Today Show. The band performed their classic hits ‘Spiderwebs’ and ‘Don’t Speak’. If that was the only performance that we have to go on regarding their return, I’d say that it’s like they never went on hiatus. No Doubt is back! I can’t wait for their tour to start. I want to watch. And I can’t wait for their new album too. I wonder when that’s going to come out. I want to see if their writing and music has changed.
