Lady Gaga is an artist through and through. The ‘Poker Face’ singer insists that she will never lip synch in a performance no matter how difficult the song or dance routine. She said “I would never even think about it (lip synching). The whole point to me is, if you’re gonna be number one, you better really be fucking number one. If you’re gonna be on top, you better be able to do all those things, because it’s a real privilege to be able to make music everyday, and I get away with a lot…Andy Warhol says art is what you can get away with, and I get away with a lot with my music and my clothes, and I work really hard so I could truly be a real artist for all my fans. That’s really fucked up when you lip-synch.”

Joe Jonas has just been hailed as InStyle’s ‘HeartthrobJon’ in its June 2009 issue. The 19-year old Jonas Brothers member has become one of the biggest teen idols of this time. The singer said “It feels great when you’re on stage and girls are screaming for you. I become a different person.” When asked what he thought was sexy, Joe replied “I like Spanish music and the female singers. I can’t understand what they’re saying, but as a songwriter I get it.” When he was asked who his celebrity crush was, Joe said “Daniel Craig.” I wonder what his girlfriend, actress Camilla Belle, thinks about that.

21st Century Breakdown, Green Day’s highly-anticipated eighth studio album, was released worldwide on Friday May 15th, by Reprise Records. The album is the follow-up to 2004’s two-time Grammy Award-winning punk-rock opera American Idiot, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, and went on to sell more than 12 million copies worldwide.
The album’s first single, “Know Your Enemy” is already capturing the imagination of listeners across the country. It has been No. 1 at Alternative radio for three weeks and is the band’s ninth No. 1 single at the format, making them the artist with the second most No. 1’s of all-time at Alternative.
Green Day, which is singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, are preparing to launch their first proper tour of the United States and Canada in more than three years. The tour begins July 3rd at Seattle’s Key Arena and will cross North America through the summer, including a July 27th stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, before finishing up with a show at the Forum in Los Angeles on August 25th. Atlanta-based rapper Dolla, aka Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot and killed at the Beverly Center shopping mall in Los Angeles this past Monday. The rapper was only 21 years old. Burton was waiting at the mall’s valet stand with a friend and fellow rapper DJ Shabbazz when he was shot in the head. He later died of his injuries at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Witnesses reportedly saw a woman fire the shots and 2 suspects flee the scene in a Mercedes Benz SUV and a Nissan Altima. Police caught up with one of the suspects at LAX and promptly arrested him. Dolla was most known for his track ‘Who the Heck is That?’ featuring T-Pain and Tay Dizm. My condolences go out to Dolla’s family and friends.

The American Idol season finale decided to go with a bit of comedy this year when they had the American Idol Awards. Awards were given out to Outstanding Male, Best Attitude and Outstanding Female. Outstanding Male was given to Nick Mitchell aka Norman Gentle. He performed his horrific comedy singing for laughs again. Outstanding Female was given to Tatiana del Torro. I was laughing so hard as everyone watched her being chased by security to get her to stop singing. Best Attitude was given to Katrina Darrell aka Bikini Girl. As she was performing ‘Vision of Love’, judge Kara DioGuardi came on stage to sing and make her look a fool! Biggest surprise there was when Kara ripped her dress open and showed off her bikini too! It was apparently a dare from producers who were donating money to Kara’s favorite charity after her strip.

While most are calling Kris Allen’s win over Adam Lambert an American Idol upset and some are thinking that Kris was the right choice when it comes to the marketability, some are also saying that Adam was done a big favor by not being named the winner. For one thing, Adam won’t be stuck singing the song ‘No Boundaries’ for the next six months to a year. Considering that it was co-written by Kara DioGuardi, it’s a sucky song. It’s pretty much a given that Adam is going to get a record deal. The challenge now is for him to make a great album that not only has his stamp but is also marketable. It then comes to who’s going to last in the cut throat music industry.
