Sensitive Simon Cowell hugs crying Kara DioGuardi on American Idol

Simon Cowell showed off his sensitive side as he consoled crying American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi on the hit TV show.

Cowell put his arm around DioGuardi and hugged her after she was reduced to tears by contestant Michael Lynche.

The former American football player, whose wife recently had their child, wowed the judges with his rendition of the Maxwell song This Woman’s Work.

“I have never cried after hearing something like that, it was amazing, you were amazing,” sniffled DioGuardi.

“It is so relevant for you and I can feel it, it is your life right now, the respect for your wife and what you have gone through.

“As a woman who doesn’t have a child I can relate to it so much and it brought me to tears.”

As Simon gave her a hug, DioGuardi cried: “He (Simon) really is nice.”
