Rihanna Album Release Date

I’ve been asking when I’m going to get to hear some new music from Rihanna in hopes that she can get back into my good graces after the horrific experience that was ‘Rated R’, and I now have my answer. The R&B singer’s still untitled fifth album has been given a November 2nd, 2010 release date. I can’t wait to hear what she’s got in store for us. I just hope that it will be a vast improvement from the last album. If she has any songs that are more along the lines of Eminem’s ‘Love the Way You Lie’ or her collaboration ‘Run This Town’ with Jay-Z and Kanye West, I’ll forgive the whole ‘Rated R’ deal.

New Taylor Swift Album

Taylor Swift will be releasing her new album ‘Speak Now’ on October 25th. When asked about the title, the country singer said that it “pertains to the album as a concept, and as an entire theme of the record, more than I can even tell you.” The first single is called ‘Mine’ and it will be out in mid-August. Taylor spoke of the new single saying “My tendency is to run from love. Every really direct example of love that I’ve had in front of me has ended in goodbye and has ended in breakups and things like that. So I think I’ve developed this pattern of sort of running away when it comes time to fall in love. This song is sort of about finding the exception to that.”

No New Britney Spears Album in June

There has been speculation going around that 28-year old pop princess Britney Spears will be releasing a new album this coming June. However, there’s just no truth in the rumors. The singer’s label rep says “There is no scheduled release date for a Britney album at all. There has been zero discussion about it.” While Britney is in the process of creating new music, don’t expect her to be releasing her next album by June. Maybe her label is still trying to gauge if everything she’s going to do will be up to par before they discuss any release dates.

New MIA

Get ready because we may be hearing new music from MIA sooner than expected. The female rapper posted some sort of cryptic messages on her Twitter last week regarding a new album. MIA wrote “BANNED FROM LEAVING THE U.S, FAMILY BANNED FROM COMING TO U.S TO SEE ME , BABY, RECORDING LP, SIGNING THE DOPEST ACTS THATS HITTIN 2010. JUNE 2010. I THINK IM READY.” I know that she had a baby boy and was doing all that fun stuff but I think it’s about time that she return to the music scene. It’s been almost three years! I’m so excited for this one!

Hope For Haiti Now album lands in at top of charts

SPL146045_033

The Hope For Haiti Now charity album debuted at No.1 in the US.

The mercy album that was made from the telethon of the same name is the first ever digital-only release to achieve the laurel since album records were first bought and sold almost 54 years ago.

Hope For Haiti Now made its debut by selling almost 171,000 copies in two days, according to tracking firm Nielsen SoundScan. The two-hour telethon, organised by George Clooney, raised a breathtaking $61million for the earthquake victims.

Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift and other top-notch performers are contributors on the disc. Offered as a comparison was the data for Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed A Dream, which held at number two on the Billboard 200 chart after selling 86,000 copies in a week.

Pants On The Ground Lyrics and Video

Last night funny guy Larry Platt was singing Pants on the Ground at his American Idol audition
I just Love this guy.

Pants On The Ground lyrics.

Pants on the ground
Pants on the ground
Lookin’ like a fool with your pants on the ground

With the gold in your mouth
Hat turned sideways
Pants hit the ground
Call yourself a cool cat
Lookin’ like a fool
Walkin’ downtown with your pants on the ground

Get it up, hey!
Get your pants off the ground
Lookin’ like a fool
Walkin’ talkin’ with your pants on the ground.

Get it up, hey!
Get your pants off the ground
Lookin’ like a fool with your pants on the ground

Madonna’s new collaborators

As we all know, Madonna is planning on surprising everybody with a new album and a new musical direction even. It seems however that she’s bringing in a host of experts to help her with this endeavor… and they’re all DJ’s. From David Guetta to Kanye West’s A-Trak, they’re all going to be working on Madonna’s new album. In fact, Nye’s DJ said the following on this new collaboration: “It’s my production, turned into song structure – halfway between rap and electronic and whatever else I listen to.” So this is where Madonna is getting all of those bright new ideas from… funny, you would think by now she would’ve been able to do it all on her own.

Lil Wayne’s Album Pushed Back Again

If you’re a Lil Wayne fan, I hope you were one of the lucky ones who pre-ordered from Amazon as the release date of the rapper’s new album has once again been pushed back. Now, instead of being released in February, around the same time that he starts to serve his prison sentence, Lil Wayne’s album will drop on une 22nd, once he’s all settled in and performing for other inmates. At the rate this is going, I wouldn’t be surprised if his record doesn’t get released at all. Nothing seems to be going right for the rapper at all.

New Britney Music in Spring

There is some talk that Britney Spears fans can expect some new material from the pop star as early as next spring. Though her ‘Singles Collection’ has just been released, it apparently isn’t enough to quench the thirst of true fans of the singer. So, according to reports go around the internet, Britney is working towards getting a new album with all new material out some time in May. She is expected to team up with producer Max Martin again as well as song writer Sean Garrett. The release will mark her seventh studio album. That’s amazing! Are you ready for more Britney?

Adam Lambert Talks Album Cover

After receiving some harsh criticism after he unveiled his gender-bending album cover, American Idol alum Adam Lambert took to his Twitter to let everyone know what he thinks and giving no apologies. The singer tweeted “Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy. It’s an omage to the past. It IS ridiculous. For those that don’t get it: oh well… Glad to have gotten your attention.” He gets an A for effort on spelling “homage” without the h. I for one love the album cover. I just hope the rest of his music is as fabulous.

Mariah Carey’s Heavily Sponsored Album

If you haven’t picked up Mariah Carey’s new album, don’t worry because you’re not alone. But if you’re still contemplating on whether or not to buy it on September 15th, there might be a little more incentive for you as the album is going to be reproduced with a brand new 34-page booklet attached. But before you go and save money thinking it will be filled with the singer’s loveliness, it’s actually going to be filled with ads. ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ will be the first CD released with this new brand integrated booklet and is also in conjunction with Elle magazine. As a consumer, it’s nonsense. As a business, it’s genius!

Adam Lambert Album to be Released This Summer

Adam Lambert has a new single out from his upcoming debut album called ‘On With the Show’ which is expected to be released later this summer. The song is called ‘Want’. It’s a mid-tempo song and is more pop than it is rock. Something is sketchy though as some reports say that this album will be released this summer, which is pretty quick. However, the songs on it were recorded in 2007 and 2008, before Adam was on American Idol. It is also being released by a label other than the one the singer signed on to after coming in 2nd on the show.

Adam Lambert album expected this summer

The American Idol star is apparently going to have an album with tracks he recorded before the contest out with Hi Fi Recordings and it’s due this summer. The CEO of Hi Fi, John Hecker, said the following about Adam Lambert’s upcoming release: “We were presented with a business opportunity,” said Hecker. “We accepted because Wilshire Records had a long working relationship with Adam, and it resulted in excellent music that they had the rights to. The music has an audience, and it deserves to be heard.” Right… and the songs being released now, considering they were recorded in 2007 and 2008, has nothing to do with the fact that Adam Lambert recently gained fame and thus he is now a profitable market. They’re just releasing the songs because they need to be heard, right?

Jay-Z Announces Release Date

Jay-Z has finally announced a release date for his much-anticipated album ‘Blueprint 3’. It took him long enough. The record will be released through Warner Music Group instead of Def Jam and it is set to hit stores on September 11th. The release date, as well as being 8 years after the 9/11 attacks, is also the 8th anniversary of the rapper’s first ‘Blueprint’ album. I guess it all comes full circle for him. Or maybe he planned it that way. If so, shame on him for making his fans wait. But then again, maybe he just waited until he could get out of Def Jam.
