Lady GaGa snags five awards
At the World Music Awards the star of the evening seems to have been Lady GaGa who won no less than five awards at the following categories: Best Album, Best Selling Artist from America, World’s Best Single, Best Pop/Rock Artist, Best New Artist. It’s pretty strange that none of the other pop princesses were there to grab an award or two of their own, but Beyonce is probably just concentrating on the upcoming BET Awards and Rihanna is nowhere to be seen lately. So that just leaves “the newcomer”, as one of her colleagues called her, as the obvious choice for the awards. Lady GaGa strikes again!
The Hollies, Genesis, Abba, Jimmy Cliff and The Stooges in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
British bands The Hollies and Genesis have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside Swedish pop group Abba, reggae great Jimmy Cliff and punk rockers The Stooges.
The English bands made up two of the five honoured acts at the 25th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.
Genesis was without former frontman Peter Gabriel, who was also honoured at the event but did not attend.
British invasion group The Hollies were then welcomed on stage by Bruce Springsteen guitarist Steve Van Zandt who praised the harmonies of Allan Clarke and Graham Nash.
American rock group The Stooges provided the most energy of the night as their shirtless frontman Iggy Pop snarled at the tuxedo-wearing crowd urging them to come up on stage.
Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff was inducted by Fugees frontman Wyclef Jean who called Cliff his inspiration. “When we saw Jimmy Cliff we saw ourselves,” Mr. Jean said.
Four-piece Swedish pop group ABBA were the final group to be inducted. The group’s singer-songwriter Benny Andersson and vocalist Anni-Frid Prinzessin Reuss appeared at the event and accepted the inductions on behalf of the absent members Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog.

Taylor Swift Makes CMA History
At 19 years old, Taylor Swift rocked the Country Music Association Awards this past Wednesday by winning all 4 awards for which she was nominated and making her the youngest person and first female solo act to win the Country Music Association’s entertainer of the year award. The golden girl of a singer said “I’ll never forget this moment because in this moment everything that I have ever wanted has just happened to me. Every single person in that category let me open up for them this year. Thank you all so much. I love you.” Taylor brought her band on stage to help her celebrate and her father was shown crying in the audience. Congratulations!
