Lady Gaga is now the most followed person on Twitter as the princess of pop has ousted the previous Twitter queen, fellow pop singer Britney Spears. Lady Gaga had been nearing Britney’s number of followers for a good amount of time. The latter reigned supreme for just three months, after overtaking then Twitter king, Ashton Kutcher. I wonder if Britney or Ashton can catch up to Lady Gaga or if the 24-year old entertainer will extend her lead by leaps and bounds. I think it will go for extending the lead for leaps and bounds. I doubt any celebrity today can dethrone Lady Gaga.

Details on Glee’s Britney Spears Episode

Matthew Morrison, aka Mr. Schuester, will shave his head for the upcoming Britney Spears-themed episode of ‘Glee’. This past Monday, the show’s creator Ryan Murphy did admit during the TCA press tour that “We’re paying tribute to her in a sort of fun and unexpected way.” Matthew’s shaved head is the perfect way to do that. The actor recently spoke to E! saying “I like Britney. I got in trouble earlier for comments I made saying I’m anti-Britney, but I’m not. I think in this episode, they’re going to mirror those comments and I’m going to be very anti-Britney in the episode because I don’t like what she represents. … It’s gonna be a lot of fun and some crazy stuff is gonna happen.”

Top 10 Highest Earning Musicians

Forbes has recently released the list of the top earning musicians of 2010. The top spot belonged to Irish rock band U2, which earned $131 million. AC/DC came in at number 2 with $114 million. Beyonce was the highest paid female singer at number 3, earning $87 million. Bruce Springsteen made it to number 4 with $70 million. Britney Spears raked in $64 million which landed her in the 5th spot. Jay-Z was at number 6 with $63 million. Lady Gaga was close at number 7 with $62 million. Madonna earned $58 million for the number 8 spot. Kenny Chesney raked in $50 million at number 9. The number 10 spot saw a three-way tie with the Black Eyed Peas, Toby Keith and Coldplay earning $48 million each.

Britney Spears to get her own Glee episode

Pop princess Britney Spears is to have an episode of hit TV show Glee dedicated to her.

The show’s creator Ryan Murphy told TV show Entertainment Tonight a Britney episode is in the pipeline for the musical comedy’s next series.

But it is still not known if Britney herself will actually appear in the tribute episode next autumn.

Lady Gaga and Madonna have both had an episode of Glee devoted to their hits but did not appear on the show.

Glee, which follows the struggles of a high school Glee club, has been a surprise ratings smash around the world.

Britney Spears Covers Cosmopolitan

Britney Spears is featured on the cover of the August 2010 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. The 28-year old pop singer shared a bit on getting in a lot of family time recently. She said “Things are pretty quiet right now. I’ve been spending a lot of time at home with my boys (4-year-old Sean Preston and 3-year-old Jayden James). They just started karate class, which is super cute!” Britney also revealed what she feels about her sons going into the entertainment business in the magazine’s fill-in questions. She said “If my sons told me they wanted to be in the entertainment business, I’d: lock them in their rooms until they turned 30.”

Ke$ha copies Britney Spears python perfomance in new music promo

Ke$ha does her best Britney Spears impression by posing with a snake in her new music video, according to reports.

In the clip for new single Your Love Is My Drug, the Tik Tok singer is covered with glow-in-the-dark paint with a python wrapped around her neck mimicking Spears’ performance at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.

The music promo – filmed at the Joshua Tree National Park, in the US – sees the 23-year-old singer cavorting in the Californian desert on an elephant with a mystery man, before switching to Yellow Submarine-like underwater animation.

Your Love Is My Drug is taken from her debut album Animal, released in January, which went to number one in the US, selling 152,000 copies.

Britney Spears Splits with Jason Trawick

Britney Spears has decided to split professionally with her boyfriend Jason Trawick. A rep for the 28-year old pop princess said that the singer and her beau “have decided to end their professional relationship and focus on their personal relationship.” That’s probably for the best. Her rep also added that since wrapping up her tour, Britney has been in the studio hard at work on her next album. Another source told People magazine that while engagement rumors have been flying around, Britney and Jason, who have been dating for nearly a year, are very happy but are not planning on marriage anytime soon.

Matthew Morrison VS Britney Spears

Matthew Morrison responded to the rumor regarding having a Britney Spears-themed episode of ‘Glee’. However, the actor/singer doesn’t necessarily think that it’s going to happen. He said “That’s a rumor her manager started. I hope our show doesn’t go along that route.” Why not? Britney may not be as big as Madonna or Lady Gaga but she’s still an icon of pop music. I actually think that it will be beneficial to the show especially since fans of the show are likely to have been the same generation that has been greatly exposed to her music. Matthew really needs to get over himself.

Before Lady Gaga recorded her worldwide hit song ‘Telephone’, the singer had originally written it for fellow princess of pop Britney Spears. For some reason, Britney passed n the song and Lady Gaga went on to record it herself with Beyonce. But someone on the inside thought that it would be travesty for fans to not hear Britney’s version and has leaked the song onto the internet. I don’t know why Britney decided to pass on it because the leaked demo is absolutely fierce! It would have been a certified hit if she had decided to take the song. I love it!

Britney Spears’ mother moves in with her

It seems that Britney Spears might be getting ready for the big push to remove her father’s influence over her, but she needs help. So the singer has asked her mother, Lynne Spears, to move in with her but this of course doesn’t agree too well with her boyfriend, Jason Tarwick. This is what a source said about Britney Spears’ request for her mother: “Jason felt like he had absolutely no say. But he let it slide because Britney’s mood improves by leaps and bounds when her mom is around, and Lynne helps at defusing fights between Brit and her dad.” A wise choice indeed… after all, Jason Tarwick probably has no idea what Bible camp is like and how Britney Spears would do anything to never go there again.

Ke$ha took the time to clear up some rumors that she dissed Britney Spears in a new song during her interview with the ‘So You Think You Can Dance Australia’ team this past Monday. A leaked song called ‘Styrofoam’ featuring the trashy pop singer appeared online recently and features the lyrics “In ten years, Britney Spears… Britney, who?” Ke$ha said “Just to clarify, I didn’t write that bit and that was from when I was fifteen – and there is a reason that song’s not on my record. I have to admit now I ever regret even singing that because I have mad respect for her.”

Miley Cyrus Slams Country Music

Miley Cyrus is speaking out against country music – the same genre that gave her dad Billy Ray Cyrus fame and fortune which eventually led to her own. The Disney pop tart said “It scares me… It feels contrived on so many levels. Unless you’re wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots and singing and whining about your girlfriend or boyfriend leaving you it’s not going to sell. I think that’s why my dad finally got out of it. You have to wear those cowboy boots and be sweet as pie. It makes me nervous, the politics of it all.” She’s really trying to crush her good girl image. I wonder if she’ll be sexing it up like Britney Spears some time soon.

Britney Spears’ Court Date Delayed

Although Britney Spears’ conservatorship is set to end, the princess of pop will still have her dad in charge of her life for the time being. The singer’s court appearance, which was scheduled to take place earlier this week, has been delayed. Britney was set to meet with Judge Reva Goetz to discuss her progress but rumor has it that both parties needed more time before they meet. No date has been set to continue the talks but I do think that Britney deserves to have control over her own life now. She’s been on the pretty straight and narrow for a while now.

Kesha goes against Britney Spears

It looks like somebody has missed their weekly dose of media attention. And what is Kesha to do? Well what else but attack Britney Spears… for lip-synching of all things. This is what Kesha said about Britney Spears’ stage performances: “I don’t think that’s fair at all for people who are going to see the show. I think if you are going to be a singer, you should sing. If you are going to be a dancer, you should dance. If you are going to do a combination of the two, you should make it very clear when you are singing and very clear when you are dancing. I would never do that to my fans.” Poor little Kesha… a big hit and already she’s mastered the intricate world of pop music. Britney Spears could sure teach her a thing or two… if her dad would just let her go out an play.

No New Britney Spears Album in June

There has been speculation going around that 28-year old pop princess Britney Spears will be releasing a new album this coming June. However, there’s just no truth in the rumors. The singer’s label rep says “There is no scheduled release date for a Britney album at all. There has been zero discussion about it.” While Britney is in the process of creating new music, don’t expect her to be releasing her next album by June. Maybe her label is still trying to gauge if everything she’s going to do will be up to par before they discuss any release dates.

Britney Spears Auctions Dress for Haiti

While in court this past Friday for a bit of a follow up on her life, Britney Spears was granted the right to auction off her 2008 VMAs dress. The proceeds of the sale will then go to the relief efforts in Haiti. The pop singer picked up three awards while wearing the beautiful fringed Versace dress. Maybe it could bring good luck to the top bidder too – or it could just be a great addition to some sort of collection. But it’s for a good cause, even if you don’t like Britney, I’m sure you can put in your own effort to help the victims of the earthquake.

Britney Spears has signed on with Candie’s and Kohl’s for another year. The 28-year old pop singer shared via a statement that “I had a great experience working with Candie’s and Kohl’s last year and I am thrilled to be asked to sign on again for a second year. We’re planning some very cool photo shoots and I can’t wait for my fans to see them.” Let’s just hope that she remains sane for the rest of the year as there have been multiple reports that Britney has been going crazy again using a British accent and even using her bodyguard’s credit card to buy some shoes.

Madonna ruled with an iron fist over the UK this past decade as the Queen of Pop was mentioned in 45,633 news stroies and articles from 2000-2009 in England, making the singer the most written about figure of the decade. The study was tallied up by the online UK TV channel, Liv, who are true believers in Madonna’s staying power in the UK. Former boy band member Robbie Williams came in at #2 in the network’s findings with 27,976 mentions, and Britney Spears rounded out the top 3 with 27,910 mentions. Liv’s commissioning executive said “This is a fascinating insight into which celebrities have real showbiz staying power with the UK print press and have proved their popularity over the last decade.”

When it comes to the fickle business of entertainment, it’s always good to have a plan B. And it’s being said that Britney Spears is secretly training to become a masseuse. A source said “Britney wanted to focus her attentions on a new hobby and that’s massage… Now she has undergone a herbal detox and had a three-hour class about what oils work on various skin conditions. She has always been interested in herbal and alternative medicines.” Do frappuccinos fall under herbal and alternative medicines? But if she does end up quitting as a singer and becomes a masseuse, I bet that she would have quite a long client list.

Lady Gaga is Woman of the Year

Lady Gaga was recently named MTV News’ Woman of the Year and beat out the likes of Taylor Swift, Britney Spears and Beyonce. As they put it, “There’s no one who challenged, provoked, entertained and, well, titillated us over the past 12 months quite like she has.” There’s no argument from me! The princess of pop deserves it so very much! However, if any of the other three singers won the award, they pretty much deserve it too because they fit the bill. It’s just that if you rank them all, Lady Gaga is clearly at the top of the mountain.
