Axl Rose Still Bitter at Slash

Axl Rose’s diva attitude has got to be the saddest I’ve ever heard of. The Guns N Roses lead singer has reportedly banned fans from wearing any Slash merchandise at all of the band’s shows. Fans in Canada were actually asked by security to remove Slash-inspired top hats and turn their Slash shirts inside out when they went into the GNR concert last week or they would have ended up getting denied entrance. A couple of fans stood up to Axl’s demands and simply headed home but most complied so they could catch some of the band’s classic music – because we all know that no one really likes the new ones.

The Killers Cancel Asian Tour

The Killers have suddenly cancelled their tour dates in Asia due to unforeseen circumstances. The band released the following statement on their website, saying “The Killers have been forced to cancel their appearances in Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo and Seoul due to unforeseen circumstances. The band deeply apologizes to their fans and hope to reschedule their shows in these cities soon. At this time the band’s Australian appearances remain scheduled as planned.” I wonder what happened. That’s a full regional tour that just went down the drain. Is someone sick? Were there any threats made that got them running scared?

Lady Gaga Cancels Show

Lady Gaga was forced to cancel one of her concerts last week at Purdue University due to a mystery illness. According to school reps, EMTs showed up at the Elliott Hall of Music to attend to the princess of pop but the singer’s people turned them away. Sources say that Lady Gaga simply went back to her tour bus and then left the school grounds. Both of her opening acts performed their sets though before concertgoers were told that Lady Gaga wasn’t going to be able to perform. The concert has since been rescheduled to January 26. I wonder what’s wrong with her.

Lady Gaga Reacts to 5th Number 1

Upon hearing that her single ‘Bad Romance’ was her fifth consecutive number 1 record, Lady Gaga told Billboard that the song originally was “nothing but a dream, a recurring melody, a lyric hidden on a napkin in my tour bus.” And now, it’s a worldwide sensation! The pop singer told the music magazine that the success of ‘The Fame Monster’ is owed all to her fans, saying “Now, it’s my fifth No. 1 record, and a reminder to fans to always follow their dreams. I would like to thank all my beautiful little monsters and my incredibly supportive team for the most memorable year of my life.” I just love how the people who deserve the most praises are those who are the most modest.

Beyonce angers people of Trinidad

SPL118914_001

Beyonce has angered the people of Trinidad after scheduling a gig on the island.

The 28-year-old beauty has organised a concert for February 18 in the West Indies but its residents want the gig cancelled.

They claim that the cost of around £1million for the show will be taken out of the money for their annual carnival, which finishes two days before the concert will take place.

A resident posted a message on Twitter saying: “Beyonce can kiss my a**. I refuse to give up Carnival to go on a concert to see her perform songs I have seen on YouTube.

“I love Beyonce but she should never take the spotlight off the Trinidad Carnival.”

Beyonce VS Paul McCartney

Both singing sensation Beyonce and music legend Paul McCartney had concert specials which aired on ABC on the night of Thanksgiving. If you’re wondering which singer won the ratings war, I have the answer for you. The former Destiny’s child member took in 5.2 million viewers while the former Beatles member drew about 4.7 million. That was pretty close! I wouldn’t feel bad if I ended up coming in second with those numbers. Heck, a lot of artists these days would be thankful to even come in second compared to either of those artists. There’s really not much else to complain about that.

Janet Jackson Goes on Tour

For the first time in about ten years, Janet Jackson is set to go on tour in Europe next year! The pop singer made the announcement to Times Online. There are no further details known about it at this time though. Apart from the tour, Janet is also promoting her new album and writing a book called ‘True You’ which she says will take a look at her struggles with weight gain and self-esteem. She also talked about the pop princesses of today, her late brother Michael Jackson and what motivates her to keep going on with her career. She still sounds very broken up with Michael’s death but she seems to be in a much better place.

Britney Spears on iPhone

Britney Spears went crazy on Twitter this past weekend as she kept hyping us about this amazing new iPhone application of hers. The app has several features, including a ‘Be Britney’s Dancer’ feature which places your face over one of the pop star’s dancers and something called ‘The Sparkler’ that you’re supposed to activate when you go to one of the singer’s concerts. It sparkles. The best part about it is it also yells out “It’s Britney, bitch!” when you shake your phone! That’s a riot! It also gives you updates on what’s going on with the life of Britney.

Lady Gaga on Discount

Lady Gaga knows exactly what’s going on in the world and that’s why the pop princess has plans on bringing each and everyone a little bit of joy by releasing a reasonably-priced standard version of her new album ‘The Fame Monster’. The singer said in a statement “In the midst of my creative journey composing The Fame Monster, there came an exciting revelation that this was in fact my sophomore album. I would not add, nor take away any songs from this EP. It is a complete conceptual and musical body of work that can stand on its own two feet. It doesn’t need The Fame… We may have an economy, but music has no economy. I will release four or more singles from The Fame Monster, tour the world with the Monster Ball Tour and most importantly, I insist on honoring my fans with an affordable new album, an album that is as loyal to them, as they have been me.”

Rihanna’s Rider

Rihanna’s concert tour rider has been revealed, all thanks to The Smoking Gun. The 21-year old Barbadian singer requests for a lot to be in her dressing room but at least they’re not over the top. Among the things listed on her rider as 24 buffalo wings with hot sauce on the side, 1 whole roasted chicken spiced with jerk season and cut into parts and steamed white rice, 1 bag of good quality tortilla chips, 1 small bag of salted plantain chips, and 1 bag of fire hot crunchy Cheetos brand cheese doodles. The rider also says that Rihanna may ask for hard boiled eggs, turkey bacon and turkey sausage at any time throughout the day so organizers better be prepared. It’s obvious she loves food.

Britney Spears is Upset with Australia

Britney Spears’ first tour in Australia continues to feel the heat and it’s making the pop star upset. After being criticized by the media for lip synching and reports of fans walking out of her concert, the singer’s tour promoter quickly came to her defense saying “Britney is aware of all this and she’s extremely upset by it. She’s a human being. I’m embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting.” Britney has always lip synched her performance and everyone is aware of that. So what’s with all the fuss?

Chris Brown’s Comeback Attempt a Failure

Chris Brown’s upcoming comeback tour is turning out to be a flop in sales. Tickets went on sale last week and insiders are saying that the numbers were utterly pathetic. I could have told them that even before the tickets went out. Last year, the R&B singer was selling out 20,000 seat arenas and now, he can’t even sell out 1000-2500 seat venues. Every concert date listed on Ticketmaster still has a lot of seats available. I have a feeling that a huge part of this tour, if not the whole tour itself, is going to end up cancelled. It’s obvious that no one is welcoming him back with open arms that easily.

Leona Lewis Performs First Show Since Attack

Leona Lewis gave a fantastic performance at her first solo gig in London on Monday, for which she got a standing ovation for. The singer spoke to the audience to thank them for their support, saying “I just want to say thank you so much for coming to support me. The first time I ever performed here I was 13 so it seemed fitting for me to come back here.” The concept for her concert was amazing too! Leona appeared on stage in a black hooded cape with large images of herself projected on a see-through screen. Congratulations on the success of your solo show!

Bruce Springsteen Cancels Show

Bruce Springsteen cancelled a concert in Kansas City earlier this week after his cousin, Lenny Sullivan was found dead in his hotel room. The singer announced the death on his official website, saying that there was a death in the family. The statement was later updated to say “Lenny Sullivan, Bruce’s cousin and the assistant road manager of the E Street Band for the last ten years, passed away today at the age of 36. A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family.” Lenny worked for Bruce and his band for 10 years as an assistant tour manager. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently still under investigation.

All American Rejects Cancel Shows

The All American Rejects have had to cancel some of their concerts again, this time in Europe. The band’s lead singer Tyson Ritter took to his Twitter to explain. He said “I’m sorry Paris, I have to cancel tonight because my throat pussy aka ‘mother’ , aka voice isn’t comming out to play today. 1st time in 3yrs. I apologize sincerely to our Paris fans. This was unexpected & I’m sry. Koln as well. I had to cancel these shows or else my throat is dead. all the antibiotics I’ve been taking it’s put a great strain on my vocals and I have to rest or else I’m gambling with my voice. So sorry.” Tyson also had an injury earlier this month that prevented him from opening for Blink 182 in 2 shows and a headlining show in Atlantic City.

Lady Gaga Talks Tour

Lady Gaga’s upcoming tour is sure to be like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The singer herself describes it as a “multimedia artistic experience”. The pop princess recently had an interview with Rolling Stone to discuss her album and the tour. When asked how she came about the concept for the concerts, she said “I wanted to really put together a show that would be the most beautiful, expensive-looking, delicious show, but that my fans wouldn’t have to pay a ton of money to come see. So we’re playing a few nights in a row. I’ve got super loyal fans, so I feel this tremendous obligation to take care of them.”

Chris Brown will donate proceeds from latest tour

SPL108650_002

Shamed singer Chris Brown will reportedly donate proceeds from his latest tour to a charity as he continues to try to reform his public image.

The 20-year-old is set to headline an event that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars to help and mentor people with intellectual disabilities in Florida.

And he will also donate portion of proceeds from his tour as well as volunteer to help out Best Buddies International, according to reports.

Despite Brown’s recent high-profile conviction for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna, Anthony Shriver, who is part of the Kennedy clan and heads the charity, said he deserves a new chance.

In a email, he wrote: “I support Chris Brown’s efforts to show the world why he deserves a second chance, given that the commitment he has made to Best Buddies - not only to perform at our Miami Gala, but also to join the Best Buddies family as a volunteer - is a huge step in the right direction. I also appreciate Chris’ generous offer to donate a portion of proceeds from his tour to Best Buddies.

“I believe Chris’ fans will be equally inspired to support Best Buddies’ mission… once they see his enthusiasm and commitment to the cause - and just how much his efforts mean to our participants.”

The non-profit gala will take place in Palm Beach on November 20.

U2 Concert to Stream Live on YouTube

California, US: U2 have confirmed via video blog that their sold-out concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California, Sunday 25th October 2009 will be streamed free, in full and live on YouTube. It’s the first time a show of this size will be streamed live.

The Rose Bowl show is the penultimate U2 show this year - with more to come in 2010 - and already is set to host the venue’s biggest ever audience of over 96, 000 fans. The 360? Tour, which has been critically acclaimed and “re-invents rock’n’roll”*, will now boast unique access for fans worldwide - as fans in territories yet to be visited by the tour, or not at all, will be able to enjoy the whole show online. Managed in partnership with Live Nation, this sell-out tour has broken attendance records in most venues it has visited - its success due in part to increased capacity coupled with a lower ticket price and great sight lines afforded by the stunning in-the-round stage set. Visit U2.com or youtube.com/u2official for details of how to join in this ground-breaking on-line event.

U2 manager Paul McGuinness said - “The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we’re filming the LA show, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 - this time U2 can go to them, globally.”

YouTube will be streaming live across five continents. The show will be available in the usual You Tube way, as video-on-demand, following two full replays - after the live stream - on both U2.com and You Tube.

“YouTube is thrilled to be able to provide our global audience with a live streaming performance from one of the world’s greatest bands” - Chris Maxcy, Director of YouTube Partner Development. “We are always looking for new ways to connect fans around the world with their favourite artists, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”

Beyonce delays Malaysia concert

SPL64942_006

Beyonce shelved a Malaysia concert after Islamic conservatives slammed the slated show as immoral.

The Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party sought cancellation of the Kuala Lumpur concert on October 25 on the basis it would push “Western sexy performances”.

But Beyonce has only delayed her concert, postponing to an unspecified “future date”.

In 2007, Beyonce cancelled a Malaysia show due to dress code. Female performers in Malaysia are required to cover up from shoulder-to-knee, with no cleavage showing. The organisers, Marctensia, last month stated that an agreement had been reached among all parties over concerns her dress would be inappropriate.

But the company said: “The postponement is solely [the] decision of the artiste and has nothing to do with other external reasons.”

Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani have both met with conservative protests but gone ahead with performances in Malaysia.
