Girls Aloud member and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has a lot to celebrate. The singer is now one of the few female artists ever to achieve simultaneously a UK number 1 single and album. I expected absolutely nothing less from her. Cheryl’s debut solo album ‘3 Words’ opened in the top spot while her single ‘Fight for this Love’ arrived at number 1 last week. The single has also been dubbed the UK’s fastest selling single of the year and has held on to the top honor for the second week. Congratulations Cheryl! I wonder if any of her band mates can match what she’s done.

According to the British media, BBC has offered girl group Girls Aloud their very own 8 part chat show which is said to be called ‘An Audience with Girls Aloud’. The deal they made is reportedly worth $1 million. A source revealed that “The girls are yet to sign, but they have all agreed to it. They would each be paid £20,000 ($40,000) per show. The band is going strong and they all want to commit to it 100 per cent.†BBC has been making singers into talk show hosts recently. Let’s just hope that the girls don’t turn out like Lily Allen. But then again, they’re much more likable than Lily anyway.

Leona Lewis’ ‘Bleeding Love’ continues to reign over the UK singles’ charts. The list was announced on Sunday and it marks the seventh week that Leona has been on top. The X-Factor winner’s debut CD ‘Spirit’ is also at the top spot of the albums’ chart and it’s been there for the last four weeks.
But ‘Bleeding Love’ is facing some stiff competition this holiday season. The rest of the singles chart, in order, is made up of T2 featuring Jodie Aysha with ‘Heartbroken’, Girls Aloud with ‘Call the Shots’, Timbaland with ‘Apologize’, Take That with ‘Rule the World’, Alicia Keys with ‘No One’, Mark Ronson featuring Amy Winehouse with ‘Valerie’, Mariah Carey with ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’, Shayne Ward with ‘Breathless’ and Soulja Boy with ‘Crank That (Soulja Boy)’.
