Michael Jackson’s track Man In The Mirror set to reach number one

Michael Jackson’s track Man In The Mirror is set to storm the UK Singles Chart this week and reach number one.

The 50-year-old star died suddenly in LA on June 25 after he reportedly suffered a heart attack.

The single, released 21 years ago in 1988, was Michael’s favourite track, and it is currently at number 11 in the charts.

La Roux’s track Bulletproof is currently at number one and it is claimed Man In The Mirror has sold 24,000 downloads in the midweek charts, five thousand more than Bulletproof.

The British public have bought 300,000 of Michael’s albums and singles in just two days following the star’s tragic death.

HMV boss Simon Fox said: “Looking back at what happened with Elvis in ‘77 and John Lennon in 1980, the lift we have seen is far bigger than those two events.”

Kelly Clarkson Burns Up

Kelly Clarkson’s comeback seems to be having a good start as the original American Idol’s new song ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ currently holds the #12 spot on the chart after being released for just a few hours. She’s doing so well that she’s even beat U2. The Irish band led by Bono is at the #25 spot for the moment with their new song ‘Get on Your Boots’. Music insiders also say that Kelly’s new single will hit the top 5 soon. Congratulations to her! I hope the rest of her album doesn’t disappoint either. As for U2, I hope they can come out with better material soon.

Mariah Carey reveals the source of her inspiration

Mariah Carey has recently revealed in an interview how she came up with the idea for her song “Hero”: “Or with ‘Hero,’ I was in the studio and someone was telling me about this film ‘Hero’ with Dustin Hoffman in it. I took a walk to the loo and when I came back I had this idea for a song, and that was what then became ‘Hero.’” Amazing! That must be why the music is so good. Also, the star made this statement on the subject: “”Sometimes I wake up and in the middle of the night and have an idea and have to get up and record it straight away before I forget it.” I don’t know about you, but I just can’t help myself from putting this out of context… I never thought that the “ideas” you can have in the middle of the night can be that profitable.

Amy Winehouse on the warpath

Amy Winehouse made Pete Doherty look angelic last night after punching a fan, spitting chewing gum into the crowd and calling Kanye West a c*** on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

Her obnoxious behaviour tainted what should have been a magical comeback set.

The question on everybody’s lips was whether or not she would turn up sober and it was admittedly hard to tell if she was intoxicated, as her stage persona is to play up to her rebellion. But coming onstage with a beaming smile suggested she was over the moon to be in the spotlight again after her hospital spell last week.

The songstress started with promise, looking radiant in a blue cocktail dress which squeezed her boobs into an impressive cleavage and detracted attention from her super slim limbs.

She sang her heart out during classic tracks Tears Dry On Their Own, Wake Up Alone and Back To Black.

Amy also giggled about her wardrobe choice, saying: “It took three women to get me into this dress. Girls, isn’t it funny how it takes so long to get ready but no time to get undressed. What’s that all about?”

But things turned sour when she spoke about hubby Blake coming out of jail and fans booed.

Amy defended him, saying: “Don’t boo. I’ll find your phone and ring your mum and tell them about your bad manners. Manners cost you nothing.”

She then rambled on about never having loved a white man before, adding: “When Blake came along he bashed me over the head with a cricket bat. Not literally.”

The performance became more about her declarations of love than entertaining her supporters. Before launching into Hey Little Rich Girl, the precocious star went on a tirade about Jay-Z.

She ordered the crowd to welcome him and told everyone to be grateful they weren’t getting Kanye West as he is a “c***”.

Amy then played up to the cameras during finale track Rehab, jumping off stage, stumbling around and lapping up the attention from adoring fans. But the final straw came when the troubled star shockingly punched an audience member.

Glasto boss MICHAEL EAVIS defended Amy saying: “The man deserved it. He grabbed Amy’s breasts as she went past him.”

However another fan in the front row said it was actually a girl called Claire that was hit and she only tried to give the singer a high five.

Ambassador Rihanna

Rihanna was on The Today Show in New York City’s Rockefeller Center on Friday. She was there to perform her songs ‘Umbrella’, ‘Please Don’t Stop the Music’ and ‘Take A Bow’. In between songs, she also talked about being the official ambassador for her home country of Barbados. The 20-year old singer says “I am the official ambassador for cultural youth, which is perfect for me because I love dealing with young people. Barbados will always be home. They’re very, very supportive. They’re my backbone. It’s where I started. I couldn’t ask for a better place to grow up in.”

Madonna’s Set List

If you don’t want any spoilers for Madonna’s new tour then skip on this bit of news. The latest draft of her ‘Sticky and Sweet’ tour set list has been leaked. And let me just say, excellent song selection! The Queen of Pop is pulling out some songs she hasn’t performed since the 80s! The latest draft of songs include ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Candy Shop’, ‘Open Your Heart’, ‘Borderline’, ‘Miles Away’, ‘Dance Tonight’, ‘Everybody’, ‘Vogue’, ‘Beat Goes On’, ‘Who’s That Girl’, ‘Spanish Lesson’, ‘You’ll See’, ‘La Isla Bonita’, ‘Dress You Up’, ‘Rescue Me’, ‘Rain’, ‘Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You’, ‘She’s Not Me’, ‘Hung Up’, ‘Music’, ‘4 Minutes’, ‘Holiday’ and ‘Give it to Me’.

Best of Fergie

Have you ever heard of the girl group Wild Orchid? If your answer is no, join the club. But if looking at the picture of the group sparks a bit of interest in you, there’s good reason. If the girl in the middle looks familiar, you might want to consider giving the idea in your head the name of Fergie. Her former record label is releasing a ‘Best Of’ for her former group. Why? I doubt they even had one hit. I don’t even know them. Obviously, her old record label is looking to cash in on the fact that Fergie’s really famous now and her earlier works could mean money for them.

The Zutons for Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse has “gone too far,” according to The Zutons, whose song Valerie was turned into a hit by the troubled singer.

Frontman Dave McCabe is concerned about the diva’s descent into drug addiction, but hopes she can turn her life around.

Dave said: “I hope Amy sorts it out. But does she wanna sort it out? Because the way she’s being treated now, I think it may have gone too far. She’s like, ‘You know, I can’t even be bothered dealing with all this situation’. She might just like to be a husky singer in a shady club, which could be good as well. I hope she sorts it out. I hope she becomes happy, and if she’s happy now then fair enough.”

Brits Choose Madonna

The British have made up their mind and the numbers definitely show that they prefer their adopted child Madonna over Mariah Carey. The chart results have recently been announced and the Queen of Pop’s new album ‘Hard Candy’ has topped the UK charts by coming in at the #1 spot. Mariah’s ‘E=MC2’ only managed to debut at #3 on the album charts. Additionally, Madonna’s ‘4 Minutes (To Save the World)’ is at #1 for a 3rd week on the UK singles chart. She doesn’t stop there as ‘Hard Candy’ also takes the top spot in more than 25 countries as more numbers roll in. Congratulations!

Beyonce mad at Jay-Z

Beyonce Knowles had a furious row with husband Jay-Z over one of her biggest hit singles.

Beyonce, who is believed to have married the hip-hop mogul earlier this month, reportedly lost her temper at a concert when Jay-Z told the DJ to stop playing ‘Crazy in Love’ - a track which also features the rapper.

Jay-Z allegedly said: “F**k that. Sorry Beyonce but f**k that, lets play something else.”

The concert, which was held at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl, was organised in support of US Presidential candidate Barack Obama.

A source said: “Beyonce had been side stage for most of the night, dancing and singing along. Jay-Z meant it as a joke but she didn’t see it that way. After he came off stage, she confronted him, demanding to know what the hell his comments had been about. She was gesturing wildly and not looking happy.

“Later, peace was restored and they were smiling and looking happy again.”

Kanye West Plagiarized

kanye-west.jpg

One crazy songwriter/producer in Maryland is claiming that Kanye West stole what’s rightfully his by lifting his tune ‘Volume of Good Life’ for Kanye’s smash hit ‘Good Life’. In a rambling lawsuit filed in Maryland District Court, Dayna ‘D’Mystro’ Staggs is suing the rapper and his record label for copyright infringement saying that Kanye “didn’t obtain a license to use ‘Volume of Good Life’” for his tune and even points out that Kanye was only a kid when the song was written. D’Mystro is also outraged because Kanye’s song was vulgar as compared to his much cleaner song. He’s demanding 85% of all world sales of the proceeds from the music that uses his work.

Rihanna Takes a Bow

rihanna-take-a-bow.jpg

Rihanna made the world premiere of her latest single ‘Take a Bow’ on Friday morning on Ryan Seacrest’s ‘On Air’ radio show on 102.7 KIIS FM Los Angeles. The song is about a break up with the girl just being spiteful and pitying on the guy. Much like Rihanna’s previous singles, let’s hope this one becomes a hit too. Let’s make 2008 her year as well. I’m just hoping that the song’s subject doesn’t happen to her though. Despite still not admitting it, everyone already knows that she and R&B crooner Chris Brown are dating. I’m hoping they last. They look cute together.

Carrie Underwood Does Rihanna

carrie-underwood-does-rihanna.jpg

Rihanna’s hit song ‘Umbrella’ has been covered by so many artists that it has to have taken the title of being the most covered song since Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’. Practically everyone has done their version of the Barbadian singer’s instant classic – whether they be in rock, pop, classical or even country! Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban are the latest to take part in the craze as they actually do a duet of the song during their concerts. You can’t blame anyone for the covers though. The song is good, it’s catchy and it’s versatile. Almost nothing can go wrong with that – unless of course Heidi Montag decides to make a duet with Rihanna too.

Madonna Tracks Listing - New Abum

madonna-candy.jpg

The track listing for Madonna’s new album has been unveiled and it is as follows:

1) Candy Store
2) 4 Minutes To Save The World
3) Give it 2 Me
4) Heartbeat
5) Miles Away
6) She’s Not Me
7) Incredible
8) Beat Goes On
9) Dance Tonight
10) Spanish Lesson
11) Devil
12) Voices

‘Spanish Lessons’? Pray that it’s not ‘La Isla Bonita’ part 2. And no, that’s not the actual cover of her album. With Madonna going crazy on magazine covers and giving racy pictures, I’m sure her album cover will be just as, if not more, racy than ever.

KT announce Forrest dates

kt-tunstall.jpg
The fantastic KT Tunstall has announced two concerts as part of the Forestry Commission’s forest tour this summer.

The past 3 years have been a hectic time for KT Tunstall as she has become established as a phenomenally successful artist both sides of the Atlantic. Her debut album ‘Eye To The Telescope’ has sold over 4 million copies to date including over 1.5 million in the UK alone.

Critical acclaim includes a Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist, The Ivor Novello Best Song award for writing ‘Suddenly I See’ and a Q award for Track of the Year for ‘Black Horse and the Cherry Tree’. Chart success continues with the release of her latest album ‘Drastic Fantastic’ including the hit singles ‘Saving My Face’ and ‘Hold On’.

KT, who is extremely committed to green issues, has signed up to the GlobalCool campaign and even has her own 6,000-strong forest of trees in Scotland. These concerts will be supporting the Forestry Commission’s valuable social and environmental programmes.

Ciara and Janet Jackson Duet

ciara-janet.jpg

Doing remakes of very popular songs was the trend of 2007 when many artists from different genres of music put their own twist on Rihanna’s massive hit single ‘Umbrella’. But it looks like it’s not going to be the big thing for music in 2008.

Robyn was the first to make a duet out of a new song when she reworked one of Snoop Dogg’s newest songs into a duet. Mind you, her take on it was hot. Now, Ciara has followed her lead and did a duet version of Janet Jackson’s ‘Feedback’. And much like Robyn and Snoop’s so-called duet, the R&B/hip hop singer’s so-called duet with Janet is the hotness!

Rihanna’s NRJ Awards Performance

rihanna.jpg

Rihanna performed her latest hit song ‘Don’t Stop the Music’ at the 2008 NRJ Music Awards where she also picked up the award for International Song of the Year. The Barbados babe worked her magic in fluorescent tank tops and plaid skinny jeans. There’s also some amazing choreography from a bunch of break dancers. Now that is how you bring down the house and bring it down rocking. Everyone knows that 2007 was Rihanna’s year but it looks like 2008 is still going to be going to her. There’s absolutely no beating her – not even by Janet Jackson. Rihanna is queen!
