Lil Wayne is facing more legal problems. The rapper and his mentor Birdman are being sued for copyright infringement by a Florida resident, Thomas Marasciullo. The man is accusing both rappers of using his voice without his permission on several tracks. Back in 2006, the guy was asked to record “Italian-styled spoken-word recordings” for Cash Money Records and is claiming that those recordings were used on 4 tracks on Lil Wayne’s album ‘Like Father, Like Son’ and on Birdman’s ‘5 (Star) Stunna’ record. Why did it take him 3 years to file a lawsuit? Marasciullo is suing Cash Money and Universal Music for unspecified damages.

Apparently, it was a very short hearing. Probably not wanting to go against any irrefutable evidence, Lil Wayne just went ahead and pleaded guilty to the possession charges and admitted that he did indeed have a loaded semi-automatic .40 caliber gun on board one of his tour buses two years ago. Apparently, Lil Wayne is facing one years of prison for this one but his sentence will be given in February and he’ll remain free until then. Maybe he’ll decide to confess to some other problems he has with the law, namely charges of drug possession and another of weapon possession. He’s pleaded not guilty to those, but he still has time to change his mind.

Chris Brown has slowly been working his way back into the music world. The 20-year old R&B singer’s recent single ‘I Can Transform Ya’ featuring Lil Wayne has been doing well and his 2008 hit ‘Forever’ managed to work its way back to the top spot on the iTunes R&B chart. A new single called ‘So Cold’ was also just leaked onto the internet earlier this week and Chris went on his Twitter to talk about it saying “OMG as you all know a song leaked today from my album called so cold.. im a lil upset but i pray my album doesnt leak..” I hope it does so no one has to buy it and his album will be a sales flop.

Chris Brown recently announced that his song ‘Transformer’ featuring Lil Wayne will be the first single off of his upcoming new album called ‘Graffiti’. The 20-year old R&B singer also wrote on his Twitter about the album saying “Graffiti!!!! Comin soon…. Just finished it…hands down … My best album… That’s all I’mma give away right now… I honestly don’t think the game is ready for the recordz I got coming off the new album…. (not tryna be cocky)!!!! LOL.” A release date for his new album has yet to be announced. I could care less if it comes out in the next 20 years.

After Lil Wayne’s shot at Cricket Pavillion in Phoenix, two of his four tour buses stopped at a nearby apartment complex when all hell broke loose. Witnesses claimed that several women were seen going in and out of the buses when the violence erupted. Stones and bottles were thrown and at least one shot was fired. Police were called to break up the fight but a 15-year old boy later filed a report claiming that, thanks to one of the singer’s bodyguards, he got bruised ribs as a souvenir. Lil Wayne is proving to be a big magnet for all sorts of trouble.

Only a few days after collapsing on stage due to his knee injury, a concertgoer blabbed about rapper and singer Drake taking the stage with Lil Wayne during their Toronto concert. I hope that he was actually well enough to perform and not just pushing himself harder. Apparently, his doctor’s already advised him to not participate in the tour when he first injured his knee but he still went anyway. But then again, how could he not perform in his beloved Canada? He is a ‘Degrassi’ alum after all. I’m even willing to bet that a huge part of the audience knew him from that show.

Lil Wayne is finding himself in another legal trouble. A lawsuit was filed against the rapper last year accusing him of copyright infringement. Apparently, he didn’t get the proper permissions to sample music from folk singer Karma-Ann Swanepoel’s ‘Once’ which he used in his track ‘I Feel Like Dying’. The lawsuit claims that Lil Wayne promoted his album ‘Tha Carter III’ by singing the song in concerts and allowing fans free downloads of the song on his website. The rapper is fighting back with his own lawsuit now against Rebel Rock Productions Inc who produced his song. Lil Wayne claims that they should have been the ones responsible for securing proper permissions and licenses. Either way, someone has to pay up.

Taylor Swift can now stop having to make digs about ex-boyfriends just so she could get some attention as she has just beaten Joe Jonas’ butt by topping the US Billboard charts with her second album ‘Fearless’ which sold over 592,000 copies in its debut week. That means that Taylor has one of the biggest opening week sales in 2008 by a female artist. She’s also the fourth biggest overall coming behind Lil Wayne, AC/DC and Coldplay. Taylor also managed to beat the Jonas Brothers on the charts as their latest album sold about 525,000 on its first week. Taylor is getting geared up for global domination as well as her album will be released worldwide early next year.

Lil Wayne may be celebrating having a huge #1 album but the good comes with the bad. The rapper has just been slapped with another lawsuit. This time, it’s for failing to pay for work done on his custom Bentley way back in 2005. The suit was filed back in December 2007 when LeMarck deAndre failed to receive payment for modifying Dwayne Carter Jr.’s Bentley. Now, deAndre is filing another suit for $123,800 in damages. Why? Shouldn’t he just have sued for whatever money he was owed? If you ask me, it looks like someone’s just looking to drain Lil Wayne’s cash flow.

Rapper Lil Wayne has been busted again by authorities in Arizona early Wednesday morning when his tour bus was pulled over and searched by US Border Patrol. The Drug Enforcement Agency was even called in and everything. The rapper is being held in a Yuma, Arizona jail on three felony counts for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotics. This is his second arrest in a mere three months. You would think that he would learn something from the first time – or at least wait a year or until the first one gets forgotten. Tsk.

Lil Wayne was supposed to perform at a North Carolina high school a few nights ago but the rapper failed to show up which left an auditorium of kids without a promised show. The concert was originally set last month but was canceled after the New Hanover County School Board pulled the plug due to safety concerns. It may be due to the chaos at a 2006 Morgan State University show where the rapper rained money on the crowd which resulted in two lawsuits from injuries sustained when people scrambled for the cash. Wayne’s promoter filed a lawsuit for breach of contract which allowed him to perform after an agreement was reached.
However, the 4,000 seat auditorium was sparsely filled and it’s rumored that Wayne called it off because of it. No refunds have been made as of yet.
