This week, singer/songwriter P!nk ascends to the number one position on the U.S. singles chart with her smash hit, “So What.” The irresistible rocking single tops Billboard’s “Hot 100 Singles,” “Hot Digital Songs” and “Hot Digital Tracks” charts, and is the number one radio airplay gainer for four weeks in a row, making it one of the top 10 most played songs at CHR radio stations. The David Meyers directed video is currently in rotation on VH-1, Fuse, Music Choice, and is one of the top ten videos on MTV.
“So What” was co-written by P!nk and produced by collaborator Max Martin, who worked with her on “Who Knew” and ”U + Ur Hand.” The New York Times describes the first single from her forthcoming album, Funhouse, as “guitar-charged and aggressively bouncy.” Funhouse is her fifth studio effort and is slated for release on October 28th.

Mariah Carey performed a two-song set during this past Saturday’s edition of Saturday Night Live. The 38-year old diva performed songs from her latest album ‘E=MC²’ which means ‘Emancipation equals Mariah Carey to the second power’. She sang her first single off the album ‘Touch My Body’ and a new song called ‘Migrate’. I thought ‘Touch My Body’ was a nice song but I’m really not feeling ‘Migrate’. It’s just a basic hip hop song that really did nothing for Mariah. It was so basic that even her back up dancers got basic. They needed to jazz up their outfits that were nothing more than a snore.
Posted in Album Release, Hit Song, Madonna, New LP, New Single, News, Song, Tracks Listing on the March 3, 2008

The track listing for Madonna’s new album has been unveiled and it is as follows:
1) Candy Store
2) 4 Minutes To Save The World
3) Give it 2 Me
4) Heartbeat
5) Miles Away
6) She’s Not Me
7) Incredible
Beat Goes On
9) Dance Tonight
10) Spanish Lesson
11) Devil
12) Voices
‘Spanish Lessons’? Pray that it’s not ‘La Isla Bonita’ part 2. And no, that’s not the actual cover of her album. With Madonna going crazy on magazine covers and giving racy pictures, I’m sure her album cover will be just as, if not more, racy than ever.

The Idols and the Disney stars are rulers of the 2007 music scene. The music industry may be dying but they were still able to make something of it.Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood are the most notable Idols of 2007. Daughtry is the biggest selling artist in the US for 2007 as his album sold 3.2 million copies this year while Carrie Underwood’s ‘Some Hearts’ sold 2.3 million copies.
Disney star Miley Cyrus is the biggest selling female artist of the year, selling 2.5 million copies of the ‘Hannah Montana’ soundtrack. Akon sold 2.7 million albums while Fergie sold 2.4 million copies of her debut album which was released in 06.

Here’s some proof that Mariah Carey is pretty much a household name. She doesn’t have a new album out yet she has a Top Ten single without even exerting any effort. She better thank the people who said that digital downloads count for something towards chart success. Her ‘All I Want for Christmas’ is #8 this week in the US according to Soundscan. It looks like people are really into the holiday spirit as Josh Groban’s Christmas album actually took the top spot by selling over 500,000 records this past week and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. Who knew Santa can be a big capitalist ploy?

Earlier in the week, it has been reported that Madonna previewed her album for Warner Bros. staff members in New York. Now, we have a date for the release of Madonna’s new and last album for Warner Bros. Billboard is reporting that ‘Licorice’ is set for a late April 2008 release.
The Queen of Pop’s husband, Guy Ritchie, pimped out her album at the ‘Revolver’ premiere saying “It’s her best CD. And I’m not just saying that. Well, I am just saying it, but I also mean it.”
After the release of ‘Licorice’ and a greatest hits album, Madonna’s $120 million deal with Artist Nation and Live Nation will start.

Looks like another musical head-to-head is about to go on, but this time, it’s between British babes. Leona Lewis’ debut album comes out next week in the UK, the same time that the Spice Girls are releasing their Greatest Hits CD. And wouldn’t you know it? The X-Factor winner is pretty much guaranteed the top spot!
Leona’s ‘Spirit’ is outselling the Spice Girls’ Greatest Hits by 6 to 1 in pre-sales. Her album is even expected to surpass the Artic Monkeys’ ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ are the biggest-selling pre-release of the year. A projected 500,000 albums for her first effort is on for next week.
Not bad who used to work at a Pizza Hut not long ago.

In a way, it’s like Garth Brooks never retired. He may have stopped touring and releasing new music, but he kept repackaging and reissuing his older albums, striking up an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart highlighted by a second box set called The Limited Series in 2006.
Where previous Garth repackagings could seem a little unnecessary — it’s not quite clear just how many of his fans needed that second Limited Series anyway — The Ultimate Hits actually fills in a needed gap within his catalog, as Brooks hasn’t had a hit compilation since his first, the 1994 The Hits. That disc was a “limited edition” at least in theory — there were so many copies pressed it wasn’t exactly rare — and out of print since the mid-’90s, so it wasn’t available in most retail stores, plus it didn’t cover all the hits he had between its release and his retirement.
The Ultimate Hits does exactly that, containing all 18 tracks from The Hits (albeit not in the same sequencing), adding 12 hits that he had in the last half of the ’90s, along with four new songs highlighted by a cover of Huey Lewis & the News’ “Workin’ for a Livin’.” The new songs are a nice touch, but the real purpose of this set is to offer casual fans a way to get all of Brooks’ best-known hits in one package, and in that regard The Ultimate Hits not only succeeds, it’s long overdue.

If there’s still doubt about it, this should erase them all. The Backstreet Boys are most definitely back!
Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean made their first live TV debut performance as the newly reformed group of four on the Wednesday edition of Regis & Kelly Halloween special.
The foursome performed their new single ‘Inconsolable’ off their latest album ‘Unbreakable’ which has already hit the stores this week.
I still think it’s odd to not see a boy band with five people in it. There’s the former Backstreet Boys, the former 5ive, the former NSYNC. But hey, whatever.

Even if you don’t listen to her album and just judge it by what she’s been doing over the time it was recorded and promoted, you all know the Britney Spears’ ‘Blackout’ album is pretty much the nail in the coffin of her career. The Wall Street Journal thinks so too when they did a review on her album.
They said “A phalanx of producers and backing vocalists exert more of an influence on a disc that’s not quite a mess but only occasionally rises above a muddle… as a vocalist, Ms. Spears sounds weary, snide and at times disconnected. On some songs, her voice seems grafted to the material as if an afterthought… At the bottom register, her voice is a throaty bleat… With Blackout, Ms. Spears fails to deliver a recording that will re-establish her as a dominant pop star rather than a 25-year-old woman who seems bent on self-destruction.”

Much like the last Harry Potter book except no one really cares for this one, Britney Spears’ CD booklet for her upcoming album ‘Blackout’ has been leaked. Photos of the cover and each page of the booklet popped up on line earlier in the week.
The entire CD has also leaked and some are saying that the top three tracks are ‘Hot as Ice’, ‘Piece of Me’ and ‘Break the Ice’. Her album is scheduled to be released nationwide on Tuesday, October 30th.
Who’s willing to bet that the leak was another publicity stunt to create more hype for her comeback album? Newsflash folks, it’s not working.

Nas has a new album that’s set to drop out on December 11 but apparently, that’s not the only thing he’s dropping. He’s reportedly dropping the N-bomb too.
Def Jam vehemently denied reports that the rapper was going to name him next album ‘Nigga’ but Nas has fuelled the controversy by saying that he would instead use the epithet’s correct spelling for the album’s title.
While people like Reverend Jessie Jackson are saying that it’s morally offensive and socially distasteful, Nas told MTV News that “[People] shouldn’t trip off the title. The songs are crazier than the title.”
He’s not helping his case any.

I did say that I think Britney Spears’ latest effort is going to tank. To those who are still believing in some wayward miracle that it would succeed, eat the facts. Her single ‘Gimme More’ isn’t exactly burning up on the radio and pre-sales of her album ‘Blackout’ are more than a little disappointing.
According to FOX News, ‘Gimme More’ is pretty much dead on the radio with Radio & Records reporting that the single is at the bottom of every chart. Britney’s supposed comeback album, due out in less than two weeks, is at #76 on Amazon.com which means that very few people are actually interested.

Low and behold, Britney Spears’ new album cover for ‘Blackout’ is finally here. Her album, which had an original release date of November 3, was pushed forward to October 30th because of “numerous unauthorized online leaks.” I think the better question is how much will it sound like all her other albums? I don’ think there will be any ground breaking sounds, just differently processed music which all the tweens and teens will love. Cover looks like ur first Photoshop lesson.. Unreal for someone so high up in the buis.. she can afford better artwork and as for buying her CD.. HELL NO!!.. Why would u.. it’s just gonna be the same old if not worse.. her music is only big cause she was cute, with a hot body, and had catchy songs which kids liked.. She can’t sing!! But that’s doesn’t mean the Album won’t sell there are youngsters who are up and coming and would like to know more on the crap album she has made, the high publicity could help too.

Talk about wanting as much publicity as possible. Ten new songs have leaked which are reportedly part of Britney Spears’ new album ‘Blackout’ which is due on November 13.
However, only one song seems to be legit. And by legit, we mean, it could be on her album. The rest, eh.
That one song is called ‘Radar’. It was produced by the same team that produced the hit ‘Toxic’, Bloodshy & Avant. Given that, the song is disappointing. It’s good but not great. I would have expected more.
Britney is in dire need of a hit if she expects to make a successful comeback. But with songs like these, I doubt it’s possible.

There’s only one Justin Timberlake in the world and the rest of NSync knows it, especially JC Chasez. The former Nsync member and aspiring solo artist has just been drooped by his record label Jive Records. But he was trying to downplay it at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood last Wednesday night by saying that he and the company mutually parted ways.
USA Today was able to get an interview with him where he was quoted, “It’s show business, but right now it’s business, show. I have some material that I want to get out and it’s about timing and all that other stuff, but I have a great record coming out.”
I feel sorry for the guy. He’s hard at work and gets dropped but lunatics like Britney are still with the label. Pfft.
Posted in Hit Song, Music, New LP, New Single, Nicole Scherzinger, Singers, Solo, Video on the September 26, 2007

You have got to be kidding me. Is this all we get from the girl who was poised to be the next Beyonce or Jennifer Lopez? When it comes down to it, Nicole Scherzinger or Pussycat Dolls fame just didn’t cut it. She had the world in the palm of her hand and her pick of the best producers but she still failed. Too bad.
Nicole recently released the video for her second single ‘Baby Love’ off of her solo album ‘Her Name is Nicole’. Not only is the video quite a bore and overproduced but it’s also lacking in the emotion department. It’s a love song. Why would it not have any emotion in it?
The song and the video are okay. But come on! We’re all expecting so much more!
