Deborah Cox just welcomed a new addition to her family. The Canadian singer gave birth early Monday afternoon to daughter Kaila Michelle, her third child with husband and manager Lascelles Stephens. Congratulations to Deborah and the rest of her family for the new little bundle of joy! I hope the baby lives a healthy life. In other news, the ‘Nobody’s Supposed to be Here’ artist is currently in the running for Best R&B Album at Canada’s 2009 JUNO awards. I wish her the best of luck at the JUNO awards! Talk about being blessed. Win or lose, I doubt she’s anything but happy right now.

Taylor Swift still has the number one album in America this week. Taylor was the biggest selling artist of 2008 in the US and the country singing cutie is intent on global domination. She made London one of her targets last Wednesday night when she made her first appearance ever at the Brit Awards and looked quite lovely in her sparkly dress. Taylor has been in the UK for a few days doing promo and will be in Europe for a while longer before beginning her world tour in North America this spring. It’s hard work being as successful as Taylor is.

Beyonce filmed her latest music video with an actor on the beach this past Wednesday in Malibu, California. The 27-year old singer will reportedly perform with ‘High School Musical’ stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, ‘Mamma Mia’s’ Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper at this year’s Oscars. Host Hugh Jackman and Beyonce have been rehearsing at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York City for the number. I wonder if it’s a serious number or if there’s more of a comedy twist to it. I hope it’s more on the comedic side. It would just be another boring dance segment if not.

New Kids On The Block have just premiered the video for their song “2 in the Morning.” Shot at a mansion in Pacific Palisades, CA, the video follows a feuding couple throughout the house. Donnie describes the concept of the piece as “somewhat based on a very literal translation of the song with a twist.”

Rihanna recently celebrated her 21st birthday last Friday and her friends did something sweet by putting a birthday greeting in the local Barbados paper, the Nation News. Their message reads “Happy 21 Birthday to Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Amidst all the negativity about Ri Ri. God will continue to bless her.
That’s why you are so great, Ri Ri. From Sharon, Shane, Kim and Rashane. We love you.” I can’t imagine how she could celebrate this without having to think of what recently happened to her. Belated happy birthday to Rihanna! Just stay strong. Things can only go up from here.

Singer 50 Cents is thinking big time to follow in the footsteps of rap rival The Game and take retirement. He feels that his next studio album could be his last. He has a 4th album plus a hits compilation remaining to do on his contract after which he could be seen taking some sort of lay off from work thereafter.
He says, “It (next album) could very well be my last studio album if it doesn’t make sense for me to continue and actually do it.” He adds “I believe that I will have a stronger position as we move forward. What I have on my side is age. In the next five years, they’ll (top rappers) be 45 and 44 years old and I’ll just be close to where they are now.”
Forget get your rivals, the album sales might rank you high on the top selling artist list but believe me Curtis that there will be a million people happy to see the back of you as they were when George Bush finally left the President’s office.
You would see pictures of people grimly sobbing with utter joy that a man who can be credited with using foul words in his lyrics extensively has finally let their children listen to music that deserves their ears’.

After being harshly criticized for allegedly taking cover in Las Vegas, reports are now saying that Chris Brown has left the comfort of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Sin City and intends to spend time with his mother Joyce Hawkins, instead. That is probably the first smart move he’s done since the violent incident between him and Rihanna went on. There’s no word yet on the exact location of where the mother and son will be meeting up but it’s got to be better than hiding out in Las Vegas. I still think he should just come out and give his side of the story.

You can always expect something ridiculous to happen when Paula Abdul is involved. In last week’s performance episode of American Idol, the often laughable judge did the most ridiculous thing to do when she decided to give a standing ovation to the only guy who couldn’t see it. Sure, it was a great performance but how can you forget that the guy singing the song is blind? Honestly, someone should get Paula on some sort of medication for her craziness. I bet Simon and Randy were inwardly laughing at that and Kara was utterly shocked and ashamed about Paula’s actions.

More and more radio stations across the US and Canada have decided to stop playing Chris Brown’s music and more and more details continue to come out about exactly what happened between the singer and Rihanna last weekend. It’s been revealed that after pulling over in Hancock Park area of LA, Rihanna snatched his car keys from the ignition and threw them out on the street. Chris then became livid, and he “put his hands around her neck and said ‘I’m going to kill you!’” It gets worse after that. “(She) told police that she lost consciousness… her right eye was blackened and badly swollen and she had handprints on her arms.” The police were so concerned about her injuries that they rushed her to the hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance. Where was Chris in all this? He fled from the scene!

50 Cent and Kanye West are still going at it when it comes to their rivalry. In a new interview with MTV, 50 talked about Kanye’s sexuality. He said “I actually don’t believe Kanye West is gay. He might be sensitive. Trying — try-sexual. But I know he’s not gay.” Try-sexual? I hope that doesn’t catch on. And how does he know that Kanye isn’t gay? Did he try getting with him or something? It will be interesting if that’s true though. I wonder what his thoughts are about Kanye’s eccentricity. Why is he even talking about Kanye’s sexuality anyway? It’s so weird.
