Flash mobs usually pay homage to musicians who are no longer with us, or at least the ones who aren’t right there. However, the Janet Jackson flash mob that went down last weekend had a very special guest – the singer herself. It wasn’t all a coincidence though. It was actually all to promote her greatest hits album which comes out on Tuesday. It was still pretty cool though. The mob busted out some of her most famous choreography and were also dressed in some of her most recognizable clothes. I bet she was entertained by all of that. I want my own flash mob!

Singer Morrissey has returned to his tour after collapsing on stage.
The 50-year-old performed at London’s Royal Albert Hall after collapsing in front of 1,000 fans at a concert in Swindon.
He was unconscious and helped from the stage by band members to be treated by paramedics on site. He was then taken to the Great Western Hospital and stayed overnight. He had cancelled several shows earlier this year, arousing concerns for his health.
But Morrissey’s spokeswoman said the star is now “rested and absolutely fine”.
At the Royal Albert Hall performance, the singer was quoted as saying: “Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night. The doctor said I shouldn’t smile. I told him, ‘I don’t’.”

As we all know, Leona Lewis was attacked by an X Factor reject Peter Kowalczyk while at a London book signing of her autobiography, ‘Dreams’, earlier this month. The ‘Bleeding Love’ singer is now opening up about the terrible unprovoked attack, saying “It could have been worse. I’m still alive. It is just something you have to deal with when you have fame and the positives far outweigh the negatives. I don’t like to dwell on the negatives. I’m a very positive person.” And it probably helps that the guy is getting charged for attacking her. He clearly deserves whatever punishment will be given to him.

Just several yards away from where Michael Jackson was to have his epic ‘This Is It’ performances, the King of Pop will have his personal belongings on display at London’s O2 Bubble. The exhibit will feature some of the late singer’s most prized treasures for fans to enjoy. Among some of the items will be a letter from Ronald Reagan from 1984, wishing Michael a quick recovery after his hair was set on fire, an oil painting of the icon dressed as a king, his trademark jewelled gloves and a pair of shoes with part of the heel cut out used when Michael performed his hit ‘Smooth Criminal’.

Justin Timberlake was granted a restraining order against his stalker Karen McNeil. According to legal documents, the woman rolled over to the signer’s house in a cab last Thursday, bypassed security measures, “trespassed onto [Timberlake's] property, attempted to gain access into his home, and delusionally claimed to know and be friends with [Timberlake].” Justin’s security team eventually apprehended McNeil, who is described as a “heavyset white female, approximately 50 years of age.” LAPD cops took McNeil to a local hospital for a 5150 psychiatric evaluation. However, sources say that the individuals who evaluated her felt that she didn’t meet the criteria for a 5150 hold so she was released.

While Lily Allen is on a major tirade about people illegally downloading her music, Latina singer Shakira thinks that it’s cool and has absolutely no problem with her fans basically stealing money from her. In a recent interview, Shakira explained that she felt closer to the “fans and the people who appreciate the music” when her music is downloaded, illegal or otherwise. She said “It’s the democratisation of music in a way. And music is a gift. That’s what it should be, a gift.” That is definitely the nicest way of looking at it. But then again, it’s easy to think that way when you have loads of money stored away somewhere.

Mexican rock star Alejandra Guzman recently underwent an operation to remove material from her butt after contracting an infection from some plastic surgery that went terribly wrong. The singer was getting injections to enhance her butt and now she’s at risk for paralysis. The operation was also to measure how badly her muscles had been damaged in addition to removing the foreign materials. The owner of the clinic is in big trouble and is being detained by the attorney general’s office. This isn’t the first time that the particular clinic has been under fire as previous patients have made several complaints of unqualified employees, including one who falsely claimed he was a doctor.

Earlier this year, the guys of the band Coldplay found themselves in a sticky situation when guitarist Joe Satriani accused singer Chris Martin and the rest of the band of plagiarizing his song and creating ‘Viva La Vida’. Just this past week, the victory was sweet and perhaps costly for the UK band as a judge announced that the lawsuit has been dismissed upon stipulation which suggests that they settle the matter out of court. I can only imagine what a pretty penny it cost to have that guy keep quiet about everything. I bet that Joe is probably getting a huge cut off of the song’s profits.

DJ AM’s ex-girlfriend and close friend Mandy Moore has released a statement regarding his untimely passing. The singer and actress said “I am absolutely heartbroken. For those of us lucky enough to have known him, Adam radiated a contagious exuberance for life and also personified the very definition of a true friend. To say that he will be missed beyond words is an understatement. My heart goes out to his loved ones.” I don’t think that there’s anyone who could possibly say a bad thing about the DJ, born Adam Goldstein. He was just one of those people that everybody couldn’t help but like. He will be dearly missed.

John Mayer posted a challenge on his Twitter last week offering a $25,000 charitable donation if the people from TMZ uncovered his mug shot. The Smoking Gun got to it first though as they unearthed a rare, never-before-seen photo from when the singer was arrested for speeding and driving without a license in Georgia from back in 2001. TMZ later posted the mug shot as well and they chose to ask John to split the donation between two foundations for animals. John made good on his challenge and later posted pictures of the checks made out to the two charities.

The 3-stop tour featuring Michael Jackson’s memorabilia was recently given the go signal by the court. Even though both the late singer’s brother Randy and his mother Katherine opposed the tour, a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge gave the ok, stating that there was “no question in [his] mind that this agreement is in the best interest of the estate.” The tour, which the King of Pop’s children are reportedly in favor of, is projected to earn $6 million. Michael’s exhibition will debut at the O2 Arena in London around the time of the upcoming ‘This is It’ concert film is released and will take up residency at the arena for 4 to 6 months before moving to other yet to be decided cities.

Amy Winehouse is headed back to work and she’s moving over to Miami to finish up her third album. However, a couple of people are worried about her going there because the last time she went there, she came back as Mrs. Blake Fielder-Civil. A source says that the singer’s friends are all excited about Wino getting back to the music but not that she’ll be closer to Blake. The source said “All her friends are worried though. She has mentioned she might meet Blake when he leaves rehab in Sheffield. Even more worrying is the fact that she has been feeling broody. That would be the ultimate disaster - the spawn of Fielder-Civil.”

George Michael was arrested early Saturday morning in London on suspicion of DUI after the singer crashed his Land Rover into a seven-ton truck. The singer has been famously involved in a slew of drink and drug influenced driving offenses, most recently in 2007 when he was found slumped over his steering wheel with drugs in his system. Although the former member of Wham was released without charge, the driver of the big rig says that Michael seemed to be completely out of it after the accident occurred. Since his release, the singer released a statement saying that he was completely sober at the time of the accident.

44-year old Beastie Boys member Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch, was recently diagnosed as having a cancerous tumor in his left salivary gland. Since it was found in the early stages, doctors say that it can be treated with surgery along with a couple of weeks of additional treatment and recovery time. Fortunately for the singer, the surgery will not affect his vocal cords. The band has since cancelled all upcoming shows since they found out about the cancer and pushed back their highly anticipated album to allow for Adam to heal. Adam also took the time to release a statement saying “I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we’ll release the record and play some shows. It’s a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because I was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later.”

A UK memorial for Michael Jackson is rumoured to be in the works.
The memorial event is set to be held in London on August 29, on what would have been the Thriller singer’s 51st birthday.
Kenney Ortega, director of Jackson’s planned This Is It UK concert tour, has met family members and other organisers to discuss the event, although there is no word yet on which stars would take part or pay tribute.
US reports claim the concert will take place at the O2 Arena where Jackos’ 50 date tour had been booked.
The news comes just hours after the late pop star’s family, friends and fans gathered for a three hour public memorial at the Staples Centre in downtown Los Angeles.

Michael Jackson fans wanting to pay their respects to the Thriller singer will have to enter an online lottery to get tickets for his memorial service in Los Angeles.
The Jackson family have made available 17,500 free tickets for the extravaganza at the Staples Centre next Tuesday (7 July).
Registration for tickets started today – with millions of fans expected to apply in the US – and closes on Saturday.
A computer will then randomly pick names, but hopeful fans will have to wait until Sunday to find out if they have won the chance of scooping a pair of tickets.
However, the draw is only open to US residents, which is sure to upset many European fans who have travelled to LA especially for the event.

Paramedics have confirmed that pop star Michael Jackson was not breathing when they responded to a 911 call from his house.
Captain Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson’s home around 12:26pm on Thursday lunchtime.
Ruda said: “He was not breathing when they arrived, so the paradmedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center.”
The paramedics were called to a home on the 100 block of Carolwood Drive off Sunset Boulevard. Jackson rents the Bel Air home for US$100,000 a month and it is described as a French chateau estate built in 2002 with seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces and a theatre.
The home is about two minutes away from UCLA Medical Center.
The news comes as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably concerning his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges.

The Jonas Brothers’ YouTube account has just been suspended and none of the videos they have posted can be accessed on the site. It seems like the band of brothers didn’t go through the appropriate channels when they posted a video of Joe dancing to Beyonce’s hit ‘Single Ladies’. Beyonce is on Sony BMG, a competing label to the Jonas’ Hollywood Records. The label probably sent a cease and desist order to YouTube. The clip has since been removed due to terms of use violation. Couldn’t they have just yanked that video instead of suspending the account and yanking all the other videos?

As one legal battle closes for Britney Spears, she’s got a lifetime’s worth more to go. The recovered pop star’s camp has finally settled a lawsuit with former manager Johnny Wright, with whom Britney had been working with until 2003. Details of the settlement have not been released though. Additionally, the Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Gotez, who has been overseeing Brit’s conservatorship and money exchanges, has ruled that Brit’s camp needs to fork over another $193,000 in legal fees to the attorneys who handled the case. Being Britney is an expensive job. It’s a good thing that she got her career back on track.
