Lady Gaga keeps on breaking more and more records. The princess of pop recently knocked off Leona Lewis to get the title of having the most radio airplay in a week for her song ‘Bad Romance’. Now, eccentric singer’s hit ‘Just Dance’ has just gone platinum five times over! It’s the first song ever by a female artist to surpass 5 million downloads! And with no signs of slowing down, you can bet that she will definitely make history. That’s definitely something to be proud of! Congratulations Lady Gaga! I wonder if any of her other hit songs will follow suit.

Pop singer Ke$ha has ended Susan Boyle’s six-week run at the top of the US album charts.
The 22-year-old singer has knocked Boyle, 48, off the top of the charts after her album, Animal, sold 59,000 more copies than Boyle’s debut album, I Dreamed A Dream.
A whopping 76 per cent of Ke$ha’s album sales came from digital download stores, according to reports.
Her debut single Tik Tok broke download records for a female singer in America, when it was released in the US last year.
The top three albums in the US charts are all by female artists - Lady Gaga’s album The Fame is at number three with Boyle’s album taking the second top spot.

The numbers are in and the results are nothing short of surprising. Business for the iTunes store has been booming since the holidays and pop singer Ke$ha has outsold the princess of pop Lady Gaga. Ke$ha’s ‘Tik Tok’ sold an impressive 610,000 downloads over the past week – an amazing 175% increase from last week, while Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ was downloaded 445,000 times. Neither singles are showing any signs of slowing down so you can bet that those numbers will still be massive come next week. Wow! Congratulations to both singers for having massive success with their songs! They are both amazing!

The ‘Glee’ cast recording of Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ has been certified gold after being downloaded over half a million times. And that’s just the legal downloads. With their tracks selling big time on iTunes, it was bound to happen sooner or later anyway. Actress Lea Michele talked about it saying “The great thing about our show is that some of the songs that we do sound very close to the original and others are completely re-done and ‘mashed up.’ It’s great that we’ve brought these old songs back and we’ve put a new twist to them, while still honoring the amazing songs that they are. Matthew Morrison added “I feel like we’re revitalizing the music industry. The younger generation hears songs they never heard before through our show. And I’ll be bold as to say that I think some of the records we’re doing are even better than the originals.”

While Lily Allen is on a major tirade about people illegally downloading her music, Latina singer Shakira thinks that it’s cool and has absolutely no problem with her fans basically stealing money from her. In a recent interview, Shakira explained that she felt closer to the “fans and the people who appreciate the music” when her music is downloaded, illegal or otherwise. She said “It’s the democratisation of music in a way. And music is a gift. That’s what it should be, a gift.” That is definitely the nicest way of looking at it. But then again, it’s easy to think that way when you have loads of money stored away somewhere.
