Several sources are claiming that Steven Tyler has quit his job as the lead singer of the rock band Aerosmith. The musician has encountered a slew of injuries this year, including a broken shoulder in August and guitarist Joe Perry says that they have not been in contact for a full month after the accident. Joe informed reporters that Steven has “quit as far as I can tell”, further explaining “I don’t know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.” Joe also says that Aerosmith still has plans to continue even without their mouth and will look for a new singer.

Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin has denied recent reports that the band is to split - but added that it would be “easy” for her to replace them if they ever did want to leave the group.
Antin, 47, said: “There is no way the Pussycat Dolls are breaking up.
“It is a girl group, so people are always saying they are going to break up.”
She added: “The truth is the Pussycat Dolls is a brand. The name can live forever. The name is really bigger than all of us…”
Antin also quashed rumours that PCD lead singer Nicole is leaving to make a solo album, but added that if individual members did want to pursue solo projects that it wouldn’t affect the future of the group.
She said: “I have had a lot of different girls in the Pussycat Dolls over the years… so if a couple of [the] girls want to go out and do something else, it is easy for me to find other girls.”

Girls Aloud member and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has a lot to celebrate. The singer is now one of the few female artists ever to achieve simultaneously a UK number 1 single and album. I expected absolutely nothing less from her. Cheryl’s debut solo album ‘3 Words’ opened in the top spot while her single ‘Fight for this Love’ arrived at number 1 last week. The single has also been dubbed the UK’s fastest selling single of the year and has held on to the top honor for the second week. Congratulations Cheryl! I wonder if any of her band mates can match what she’s done.

The female guitarist, who was chosen by Michael Jackson to play in his This Is It band, has spoken about the moment she heard he had died.

Orianthi Panagaris - a 24-year-old, blonde rocker from Adelaide - had been working with the music legend less than 24-hours before his sudden death.
On the day that he died - 25 June - she said that she had been getting ready for another evening of rehearsals.
She said: “I was actually getting ready for rehearsals.
“I was on Skype with my parents and… they said he had passed and I just started crying.
“I was like: ‘Is this serious?’ And my heart just sank. And it was like… How can he have passed when he was actually fine?’ There were no hints.”
She added: “It was very difficult. It was a life-changing experience to work with someone like Michael Jackson.”
Panagaris features heavily in Jacko’s box-office smash documentary This Is It, taken from hours of rehearsals for the star’s O2 shows. She also played at the late star’s memorial concert this summer.
She said: “He was very personable, very friendly and such a perfectionist. He wanted to make sure that everything was right with his band… and put on the ultimate show.”
She added: “I wish he was still with us. It was going to be the biggest show on earth.”

Bruce Springsteen cancelled a concert in Kansas City earlier this week after his cousin, Lenny Sullivan was found dead in his hotel room. The singer announced the death on his official website, saying that there was a death in the family. The statement was later updated to say “Lenny Sullivan, Bruce’s cousin and the assistant road manager of the E Street Band for the last ten years, passed away today at the age of 36. A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family.” Lenny worked for Bruce and his band for 10 years as an assistant tour manager. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently still under investigation.

This year’s American Music Awards might as well be touted as an American Idol reunion. Why? It just so happens that Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry’s band, Daughtry, are all scheduled to perform at the awards show on November 22nd. They would pretty much cover half of the performances on the show. And I can just guess that country singer Carrie will be racking up a couple of awards too. That’s quite an empire that Simon Cowell and the rest of them have built. Will you be tuning in to see that Idols on the show?

The All American Rejects have had to cancel some of their concerts again, this time in Europe. The band’s lead singer Tyson Ritter took to his Twitter to explain. He said “I’m sorry Paris, I have to cancel tonight because my throat pussy aka ‘mother’ , aka voice isn’t comming out to play today. 1st time in 3yrs. I apologize sincerely to our Paris fans. This was unexpected & I’m sry. Koln as well. I had to cancel these shows or else my throat is dead. all the antibiotics I’ve been taking it’s put a great strain on my vocals and I have to rest or else I’m gambling with my voice. So sorry.” Tyson also had an injury earlier this month that prevented him from opening for Blink 182 in 2 shows and a headlining show in Atlantic City.

Axl Rose must be scraping the bottom of his cash barrel and really looking forward to getting any cash. In addition to selling out and handing over his catalog to be turned into children’s music, his band Guns N Roses is now going on tour in Canada. I’m not exactly sure how and why they were booked since their comeback album wasn’t a success. The tour will kick off on January 13th in Winnipeg and will continue across the country, wrapping up on February 4th in Halifax. Tickets go on sale today for $50 to $90. Why they think that people will pay that much to see a has-been band without all the original members is beyond me.

California, US: U2 have confirmed via video blog that their sold-out concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California, Sunday 25th October 2009 will be streamed free, in full and live on YouTube. It’s the first time a show of this size will be streamed live.
The Rose Bowl show is the penultimate U2 show this year - with more to come in 2010 - and already is set to host the venue’s biggest ever audience of over 96, 000 fans. The 360? Tour, which has been critically acclaimed and “re-invents rock’n’roll”*, will now boast unique access for fans worldwide - as fans in territories yet to be visited by the tour, or not at all, will be able to enjoy the whole show online. Managed in partnership with Live Nation, this sell-out tour has broken attendance records in most venues it has visited - its success due in part to increased capacity coupled with a lower ticket price and great sight lines afforded by the stunning in-the-round stage set. Visit U2.com or youtube.com/u2official for details of how to join in this ground-breaking on-line event.
U2 manager Paul McGuinness said - “The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we’re filming the LA show, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 - this time U2 can go to them, globally.”
YouTube will be streaming live across five continents. The show will be available in the usual You Tube way, as video-on-demand, following two full replays - after the live stream - on both U2.com and You Tube.
“YouTube is thrilled to be able to provide our global audience with a live streaming performance from one of the world’s greatest bands” - Chris Maxcy, Director of YouTube Partner Development. “We are always looking for new ways to connect fans around the world with their favourite artists, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”

If there was ever a question of what would come of Wolfmother after the departure of two founding members then now is the time to stop asking and start listening. Wolfmother has just unveiled their entire forthcoming album, Cosmic Egg, on MySpace and with each track a nail in the coffin of the past is hammered further in resulting in a full blown rock explosion into the present. When describing the new Wolfmother Kerrang! said the band, “have exceeded expectation, proving themselves modern masters of riff-centered, bass-heavy bong rock alchemy. Almost every track contains something fresh and off kilter while remaining immediate and throat-grabbing at the same time.”
Cosmic Egg arrives October 27th, and features the single “New Moon Rising.” For more information on Wolfmother, and where you can catch them on tour, visit www.Wolfmother.com and listen to Cosmic Egg now at MySpace.com

Today, and for the next 3 weeks, AOL’s Noisecreep.com will be releasing an exclusive and/or unheard audio clip from the amazing FMQB Metallica/Alice in Chains interview, “Inside Alice In Chains: Black Gives Way To Blue.” This week’s clip features Metallica talking to Alice in Chains about their collaboration with Elton John on the song “Black Gives Way To Blue.” “It’s a really intense song, and a really open-hearted song to Layne and the experience that we went through,” Cantrell says to Hetfield and Ulrich about the title track. “Facing up to all of that stuff, and owning all the good, and owning all the bad, and moving forward together. It was a lot of big steps…things were pretty black for us. It’s pretty literal to that, and things are starting to get a little lighter.” Keep checking back in the coming weeks for parts 2 and 3 of this classic interview.

Ryan Gosling and his band mate Zach Shields have created a very unique video which announces the tour that their band Dead Man’s Bones is going on. The tour goes on all this month and it kicks off tonight at 8PM at Middle East in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The promo even involves a dog popping a bunch of balloons. The actor turned musician Ryan described the video saying “We have been severely influenced by the works of [actor] Jan Michael Vincent and early [philosopher/ novelist] Jean Paul Sartre and I guess this our way of saying “thank-you” to all those who stood for something real and several things unreal. For all the Lou Diamond Phillips of the world who can step out in faith and say ‘please show my date the way out, quick’! This is for you.”

According to the Mirror, Stephen Gately died from complications of drinking in excess. The Boyzone singer was discovered dead by his partner Andy Cowles in his Majorca apartment kneeling against the sofa with his face buried in the pillow. It is being said that he died in his sleep when he choked on his own vomit after drinking at a club until 6AM. Stephen will be greatly missed. His band mate, Ronan Keating talked about his friend saying “I’m devastated. I can’t believe it’s real. We’ve lost a best friend and a brother. Stephen was loved by every one of us. He was one of the most caring, compassionate and gentle people I’ve known.”

It seems that Aerosmith’s recording and touring break aren’t just because of lead singer Steven Tyler’s injuries from a recent stage accident. His ego can also be blamed. According to the band’s guitarist Joe Perry, Steven has not spoken to the rest of the band since the accident in August. If he does have to communicate, he does it through his new management team. Steven and Joe haven’t even written a song together for the past 10 years! For a band that’s been together for over 40 years, that’s just cold. Joe is staying optimistic that the band will be back on its feet though saying “I think we need more time to get everybody healthy and the whole thing, and see if Steven wants to be part of the band again.”

As previously reported, indie record labels Independieate and Domino Recording Company both filed a lawsuit against Guns N Roses claiming that the band copied two songs for their album ‘Chinese Democracy’. Both labels own the licensing rights to German musician Ulrich Schnauss’ music and claim that the band used the songs on the track ‘Riad N the Bedouins’ and are asking for $1 million in damages. GNR’s manager says that the band vigorously contests those claims saying “The band believed when the record came out and still believes that there are no unauthorized samples on the track. The snippets of ‘ambient noise’ in question were provided by a member of the album’s production team who has assured us that these few seconds of sound were obtained legitimately. Artists these days can’t read the minds of those they collaborate with and therefore are unfortunately vulnerable to claims like this one. While the band resents the implication that they would ever use another artist’s work improperly and are assessing possible counterclaims, they are confident this situation will be satisfactorily resolved.”

Paramore took the stage to kick of their new US tour in Pomona last week. Things took a turn for the worst as lead singer Hayley Williams lost her voice after the set and couldn’t return for the encore. It now seems that her condition has gotten worse as the band was forced to postpone several tour dates. Hayley took to the band’s official website to explain the situation saying “After a 15 hour work day, 1 other show and 3 meet and greets later, my voice finally gave out on me… I made it through 7 or 8 songs alright and then, that was it…I’ve got laryngitis and need several days of vox rest. Luckily, we caught it early on… All in all, this is the reason for the postponement of the upcoming shows. Just know that we WILL be coming back for you guys! The entire tour is going to happen.”

It’s been a long time since I found myself able to say this but MTV is actually driving music sales up! While the public’s reaction to Kanye West’s behavior during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech seems to be the most talked about stunt at this year’s VMAs, the music itself is also getting some recognition. All of the performers at the show are seeing a huge increase in their music sales including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Jay-Z, Pink and Taylor, whose iTunes sales went up by 80%. British band Muse also performed for the first time on American TV and the sale of their album skyrocketed as a result of the VMAs.
