Kris Allen Video

American Idol champ Kris Allen recently debuted the music video for his single ‘Live Like We’re Dying’. The 24-year old singer told PopEater “It was cool because we actually shot it in the desert in L.A. in the middle of nowhere in this junkyard. I’m pulling the big cord through the junkyard…then I plug in the clock and it starts counting down to zero. It was my first video, so I was really trying to have a great time.” Kris’ self-titled debut album will be in stores next week, November 17, Tuesday. Unlike Adam Lambert, Kris’ debut seems to be doing well enough.

Kris Allen’s Victory Song Dropped from Tour

The victory song that American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi co-wrote and that season winner Kris Allen performed, ‘No Boundaries’, has been dropped from the Idol tour. Usually, the victory ballads performed by and written for the reality show competition champions have achieved great success, such as Kelly Clarkson’s ‘A Moment Like This’. Those songs are also staples of the Idol tour performances. But I guess the song just proved to be as popular as Kara being a judge on the show. ‘No Boundaries’ was a dud in concert so it’s out. I wonder if Kara’s fate as a judge will follow the same path.

Adam Lambert Scores Record Deal

Adam Lambert recently announced that he has signed a record deal with 19 Entertainment/RCA Recordings. Just like American Idol champ Kris Allen who got signed with 19 Recordings/Jive Records, Adam’s album is set to be released this fall. I guess we’ll really see who the better man is once fall comes around. The singer said “I’m thrilled that we’ve come to a creative and collaborative partnership and look forward to developing a really exciting album. We are 100 percent on the same page and are all anxiously awaiting the start of the recordings. It’s going to be ridiculous! Get ready!”

Adam Lambert was Done a Favor

While most are calling Kris Allen’s win over Adam Lambert an American Idol upset and some are thinking that Kris was the right choice when it comes to the marketability, some are also saying that Adam was done a big favor by not being named the winner. For one thing, Adam won’t be stuck singing the song ‘No Boundaries’ for the next six months to a year. Considering that it was co-written by Kara DioGuardi, it’s a sucky song. It’s pretty much a given that Adam is going to get a record deal. The challenge now is for him to make a great album that not only has his stamp but is also marketable. It then comes to who’s going to last in the cut throat music industry.

Adam Lambert VS Kris Allen: Winner’s Song

For the final song to be sang in competition on American Idol season 8, both Adam Lambert and Kris Allen tried their chops at the winner’s coronation song ‘No Boundaries’. The song was written by Kara DioGuardi. The problem is that the lyrics suck. And they say she’s one of the best producers of this day. Adam did a pretty good job on it but Kris seemed to have a hard time trying to hit the higher notes of the song. It somehow made me think that the song was specifically chosen to make Adam shine brighter. We all know that Kris is better off in his lower and mid registers.

Adam Lambert goes for Mad World again

The favorite of the two American Idol finalists chose to repeat his most dazzling performance to date: his rendition of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World”. The arrangements were almost the same and so were the reactions. Randy gave Adam Lambert’s performance an A+ and Kara said the following about it: “You changed the game up for every other contestant … you rocked it again tonight!” Simon Cowell thought it was too theatrical this time, but what can you expect from him, eh? It was an interesting move on Adam Lambert’s behalf, and what’s more interesting is that it seems to have worked. Kris Allen seems to have his work cut out for him.

The close shave on American Idol

Sure we all know that Adam Lambert and Kris Allen will be battling it out next week for the number one place on American Idol. We also know that Danny Gookey will be going home this time, but what we don’t know is the following fact: there were 88 million votes last evening and there was only a one million vote difference between Kris Allen and Adam Lambert… quite the close shave. And this close shave can hold nothing less in store than a situation of epic unpredictability next week… especially considering those that voted for Danny Gookey and where their allegiances lie. This is probably going to be very exciting to watch from the judges’ seats… I bet Simon Cowell is tingly all over.

American Idols Do Judges’ Choice

There are 4 judges on American Idol and only 3 contestants left. That makes one of the oddest situations in Idol history as 1 judge was likely to not have been chosen to pick a song. It turned out that Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi “collaborated” on choosing Kris Allen’s song ‘Apologize’. Paula Abdul got to make the first judge’s choice of the night as she had Danny Gokey sing ‘Dance Little Sister’. It was a song that he admittedly did not know but he did a fair job on it. Simon Cowell picked for Adam Lambert, giving him, if I’m right, the first ever U2 song on Idol – ‘One’.

American Idol Final 3 Revealed

American Idol finalist Allison Iraheta was given a reason to be a cry baby when she was the latest contestant to be booted off of the show. After all of the comments made on performance night, it was pretty surprising to see Kris Allen be the first to be sent to safety, followed by Adam Lambert and then Danny Gokey. Allison took her dismissal in stride though, belting out an energized reprise of Janis Joplin’s ‘Cry Baby’. Host Ryan Seacrest seems to be a big fan of the girl telling her before the show’s end “I’ll be playing you on the radio real soon.” The remaining 3 contestants will travel to their hometowns this week before performing 2 songs next week – 1 of their choosing and another from the judges. I wonder which judge isn’t going to get a pick.

American Idol Top 4 Revealed

The American Idol Final Four has been revealed after another elimination night on the show last night. During the performance night, Idol judge Simon Cowell raved about Matt Giraud’s performance which made Kris Allen or Allison Iraheta as the ones to potentially get the ax. If you base it on the voting pattern, if Matt was deemed safe, it would have been Allison to go home. Surprisingly enough, the bottom three turned out to be Kris, Matt and Adam Lambert! I’m sure everyone’s jaw dropped at hearing Adam’s name called out. Who got eliminated wasn’t much of a surprise though as Matt got the boot. He is the first contestant to get eliminated three times – first on the semis, second on the historical one-time judges’ save and finally, last night.

American Idol Top 5 Take on the Rat Pack

When you think of what music is popular these days, the music of the Rat Pack doesn’t really come to mind. But American Idol went and changed that last night by having the Top 5 contestants sing songs from the legendary singers of that era. Kris Allen started off the show with ‘The Way You Look Tonight’. He does amazingly on that song. Allison Iraheta was up next with ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’. She sings the song extremely well. Matt Giraud followed that up with ‘My Funny Valentine’. The vocals are pretty good but the performance as a whole just didn’t do it for me. Danny Gokey performed ‘Come Rain, Come Shine’. Let’s just say that he’s back to being the Danny that we can all love. Finally, Adam Lambert performed the Muse version of ‘Feeling Good’. Honestly, he’s one of the Idols I see doing better on Broadway than an actual music career.

American Idol Kris Allen is dark horse

They are falling down one by one but Kris Allen, no matter how insignificant he may seem compared to the other more noisy American Idol hopefuls, and may just be the dark horse to front runner Adam Lambert. Kris Allen is doing it nice and easy, churning out solid and well-received performances every week His rendition of “She Works Hard For The Money” for last week’s disco classic was well-received by the audience.

Kris Allen is an Arkansas soft-spoken worship leader and he might just pull an upset amid Adam Lambert’s bombastic and theatrical performance and Danny Gokey’s sincere performance. Kris Allen belongs to the unappreciated or underappreciated group but now he is in the Top Five. Kris Allen has been criticized for being too bland and not showing a lot of personality but his confidence is slowly coming out and taking a lead from American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi’s comment that Kris Allen “could make a record right now”, he just might make it to the Top Three.

American Idol Gives the Boot Twice

While Matt Giraud’s rendition of ‘Stayin Alive’ was less than stellar, American Idol voters threw him enough support to put him in the Top 5. As the one-time save has already been exercised, two Idol hopefuls were sent packing this week. Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai ran out of love and got the axe. Oddly enough, when the two gave their encore performances, they sang much better than they did on performance night. Paula went as far as asking Lil why she didn’t sing like that last night. Maybe Lil just gave up but still wanted to go out on a high note. I don’t really care. I wanted her gone anyway. I’m sad to see Anoop go though.
With two contestants getting the boot, there wasn’t too much time for pleasantries, but the judges told each castoff that “this is only the beginning.”
