Lady Gaga Talks Beyonce

The music video for the song ‘Video Phone’ starring Beyonce and Lady Gaga is out and it is hot! The princess of pop recently spoke to MTV about working with Beyonce, saying “She is such a beautiful person. I had kind of lost faith a little bit in meeting artists in the business – and then I met Beyonce.” If you got what the singer was saying, she pretty much gave some mad props to her fellow artist. I wonder how Beyonce feels about that and what she has to say about Lady Gaga. Then again, I highly doubt there’s anyone who can say a bad thing about her.

Tokio Hotel Win MTV European Music Awards

Tokio Hotel took home the “Best Group” award at the MTV European Music Awards in Berlin beating out

the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Jonas Brothers, Kings of Leon and Green Day. Bill, Tom, Georg and

Gustav also rocked an epic performance of their international single “World Behind My Wall”

complete with insane pyro and explosive stage effects. The track appears on the recently released

Humanoid.

Reason Why Robbie Williams Pulled Out of EMAs

It was reported that Robbie Williams has dropped out of the MTV Europe Music Awards last minute due to scheduling conflicts but it turns out that it was a bunch of crap. It’s now being said that MTV couldn’t meet with the singer’s over the top demands so he opted to not do the show. A source said “Every star is treated the same and has to work to the same parameters. Robbie is not different. But his reps, for some reason, said nearly everything wasn’t up to scratch. His no-show is costing us a lot of money. We tried to be accommodating, but they walked away with a week to go. It’s caused mayhem.” When you’re trying to make a comeback, I doubt having any tantrums would do you good. Some people are also saying that his awful X Factor performance is partly to blame for his no-show.

Warner Music Settles with YouTube

Warner Music Group has finally reached an agreement with YouTube that will allow label artists to put up their music videos on the site. Videos from the Warner label were removed from the streaming site after licensing agreement talks broke down last December over financial disagreements. However, though the details of the agreement have yet to become public knowledge, executives say that Warner Music will “receive the majority of advertising revenue generated around the music clips.” All that’s left now is for YouTube and Viacom/MTV to kiss and make up and the world will be a great and happy place again.

MTV VMAs Pumped Up Music Sales

It’s been a long time since I found myself able to say this but MTV is actually driving music sales up! While the public’s reaction to Kanye West’s behavior during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech seems to be the most talked about stunt at this year’s VMAs, the music itself is also getting some recognition. All of the performers at the show are seeing a huge increase in their music sales including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Jay-Z, Pink and Taylor, whose iTunes sales went up by 80%. British band Muse also performed for the first time on American TV and the sale of their album skyrocketed as a result of the VMAs.

The All-American Rejects Rock New York City

The All-American Rejects got busy in New York City this week starting off with a special performance of their hit single “Gives You Hell.”
They took the stage with house band Wale at MTV’s VMAs show where front man Tyson Ritter debuted a new glittery look. After rocking the proverbial house, Ritter caught up with MTV news
and confirmed the long standing rumor that he will in fact be teaming up with pop powerhouse Rihanna for a yet to be recorded track. With AAR’s stock rising by the day, it only made sense for the quartet to cap their week by ringing the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange
The All-American Rejects’ album When The World Comes Down featuring “Gives You Hell” and “I Wanna” is in stores now. For more information visit allamericanrejects.com

Kanye West definitely stole the show at the 2009 MTV VMAs when he interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech when she won the award for Best Female Video. Just hours after the incident, the rapper took to his official blog to issue an apology. He said “I’M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD’VE SAID… I’M IN THE WRONG FOR GOING ON STAGE AND TAKING AWAY FROM HER MOMENT!… I’M NOT CRAZY YALL, I’M JUST REAL. SORRY FOR THAT!!! I REALLY FEEL BAD FOR TAYLOR AND I’M SINCERELY SORRY!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!!!”

Janet Jackson VMA Tribute for Michael

Janet Jackson and 20 backup dancers have been working very hard to perform a legendary one-time tribute to her brother, the King of Pop Michael Jackson, at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday. The world’s best choreographers, including the likes of Frank Gatson and Travis Payne, have taken part in the 15-hour dance rehearsals to make the singer’s dream tribute performance a finely tuned reality. According to one dancer involved in the show, there won’t be a dry eye in the house by the time that Janet’s done her thing on stage. I can’t wait to see it. Now that is how you work for a tribute.

Lady Gaga Teases the VMAs

In an exclusive interview with Newsweek, Lady Gaga gave a few details about her highly anticipated MTV VMAs performance. She talked about everything from her outfit to the lighting and even on how much of a perfectionist she is. The singer said “I like to watch my performances sometimes. I’m always trying to improve on choreography and the stage shows. I like to watch the lighting. I often argue with my lighting designer on the show; as much as I like to light the show for the room, it’s important to light the show and design the sound for YouTube. In truth, lots of my fans can’t make it to my shows in Israel or Germany or in Paris, so they go online to watch them.”

  • Singer Jordan Sparks was too awestruck to talk to Britney Spears when she first met her

Singer Jordan Sparks was too awestruck to talk to Britney Spears when she first met her.

Jordan, who is currently on tour with Britney, hadn’t spoken to the star before the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13.

Sparks was seated next to Spears, 27, at the event but got star-struck and didn’t talk to the Womaniser singer much.

The 19-year-old told MTV: “Well, I didn’t say anything.

“I [didn't] know what to say, ’cause it was her big comeback thing. She was nominated for however many [awards], and she looked beautiful, and I was like, ‘Aaah!’”

In the end Sparks’ mother managed to get a picture of Jordan with Brit.

She said: “My mom had to ask her for a picture.

She added: “My mom was with me, ’cause I couldn’t do it. I was like, ‘Mom, I cannot ask her for this picture.’”

Britney was reluctant to take the picture at first but then Jordan managed to get one.

Sparks said: “Then Larry [Rudolph], who is her manager, was like, ‘She’s on your label; you’re going to want to take the picture.’ And I was like, ‘Cool!’ ”

“And I understand too because she wanted to sit and watch. But we got to take the picture!”

Like Mother, Like Daughter - Madonna

There’s a picture going around the internet of Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, looking identical to the Queen of Pop circa her ‘Like a Virgin’ days in an outfit resembling the now iconic wedding dress that the singer wore from the MTV VMAs. It is being said that the still was taken from what is believed to be a second version of Madonna’s ‘Celebration’ video. Lourdes was also featured on the original version where she dances and even does a back flip at one point. It looks like she’s getting herself ready to follow the footsteps of her mom into the world of celebrity.

Heidi Montag Wants to be Britney Spears

Heidi Montag took the stage to perform her song ‘Body Language’ at the Miss Universe pageant last Sunday in a sequined bra and skin tight pants that were reminiscent of Britney Spears’ outfit for her 2000 MTV VMAs performance. ‘The Hills’ star and aspiring singer apparently wanted to draw the comparison as Heidi said “I grew up watching Britney Spears. That’s someone I inspire to be, you know, like, career wise. I think the world is ready for the next pop star and I’m ready to be the next pop galaxy, so here we go.” It was her first performance. She hasn’t even broken the pop bubble.

    Taylor Swift Does Westside Story

Taylor Swift sings the classing song ‘Tonight’ in a ‘West Side Story’ inspired promo video for the 2009 MTV VMAs. The 19-year old country singer spoke of her version of the song saying “My version of ‘Tonight’ was pretty theatrical, because I listened to the song and I heard the song and I’m just like, ‘There’s no way to do this and not play it up’.

    Mariah Carey Cancels

Mariah Carey was willing enough to do her husband’s talent show but doesn’t do anything else. What’s up? So far, the singer has cancelled on the Today Show, VH1 Storytellers, the MTV Video Music Awards and receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The cancellation of the last one is just stupid. She doesn’t even have to sing to receive the honor. Mariah’s management continues to stay quiet about the cancelled events but some are saying that it may be due to the second postponement of her latest album ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’. Can she not handle the pressure after releasing a crappy single like ‘Obsessed’?

    Eminem Talks Bruno

Over a week since the much talked about tea bagging incident, Eminem is speaking out about the stunt at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards involving himself and Sacha Baron Cohen’s character Bruno. In an interview with Rap Radar, the rapper confirmed that it was all staged, saying “Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards. I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag. I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it. It had so many people going “nuts” so to speak. Everyone was blowing me up about it.”

The END of the Black Eyed Peas

Billboard is reporting that the Black Eyed Peas will finish recording their fifth album “The E.N.D.” at Metropolis Studios in London. Don’t be misled by the title as it doesn’t mean that the band is breaking up. Will.i.am clears it up by saying “No, no — it stands for ‘The Energy Never Dies.” He goes on to say that he’s tempted to release the album this year because this will be the last year were physical sales are significant. Will.i.am also goes on saying “We’re just finishing the songs and collaborating with the software guys. I’m tired of making songs for the radio and for MTV. You should make songs for where songs are actually being listened and played.”

Britney Spears set for MTV comeback

Britney Spears is looking back to her old self and it seems the people who matter are taking notice.

Bosses at MTV could be set to ask her to return to September’s Video Music Awards (VMAs) despite her disastrous performance just 12 months ago.

She gave a dreadful and out of time rendition of single Gimme More at the bash in Las Vegas. She was later spotted crying backstage.

So could Brit be set for her second “comeback” in as many years?

MTV president Van Toffler revealed: “Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?”

Let’s hope Britney gets it right this time. Otherwise she might not get that third and final strike before she’s down and out.
