Chart-topping star Rihanna has agreed to record a single with British band JLS.
The lads from JLS shot to fame after appearing on reality competition show The X-Factor.
The band - Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Jonathan “JB” Gill, and Oritsé Williams - were runners-up on the show but went on to sign a deal with Epic Records.
And now they have a whole host of hit stars lining up to record with them.
Rihanna has confirmed she will record a single with JLS before the end of the year - and she believes Beyonce and Kanye West will follow.
And the man behind the hook-up is none other than Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z.
He signed Rihanna to his label and is keen to develop JLS in America, so he’s putting the two acts together then plans to link JLS up with his missus and pal Kanye.
Rihanna told the Sun: “Working with JLS is something that will happen this year. Jay will make stars out of them. He has been a great mentor to me. He has been around long enough to spot real talent and he knows who will become worldwide stars.
“They can sing, they can dance, they look good, actually they look very good. But more importantly they look like a group. It doesn’t look like they have been put together. It looks like they are meant to be together.

It looks like concentrating on the work does pay off… at least for the moment. Rihanna has apparently beaten Beyonce’s record for number of top ten hit singles in the 2000’s by a female artist ever since her latest song, “Rude boy” was Rihanna’s fourteenth such accomplishment. Beyonce is probably regretting killing Sasha Fierce right about now, but it’s only a matter of time before she dumps babysitting her nephew and gets back to good old hard work. Rihanna’s victory might be very, very short lived. Hopefully she will enjoy it while she still can… maybe get Matt Kemp to throw her another little party.

Rihanna recently talked to MTV Korea about the sound of the new music she will soon be creating. The Barbadian beauty of a singer said “[My latest album] ‘Rated R’ — I love the sound of it, in terms of the bass. I really like the bottom, the grime of it. But if I were to combine that with more energetic, up tempo pop records, then I think that will be a happy marriage. And that’s where we’ll probably go next.” I wonder when she’s planning on making that new record. I sure hope that it would be a departure from ‘Rated R’. To be honest, I wasn’t too fond of it.

Rihanna got some wonderful 22nd birthday wishes over the weekend.
Friends gathered for a party thrown by Los Angeles Dodger Matt Kemp in Phoenix, Arizona. The centre fielder is working on spring training in the desert city, People magazine reports.
One of her high-profile guests, Katy Perry, could not make it on Saturday. She said in a tweet: “Love you girl, wish I could be there.”
The party was lit up by the arrival of a stripper, according to inside sources. “It was a female little person. She thought it was funny!”
Kemp, 25, rolled out a cake that was decorated with the singer’s tattoos and sang Happy Birthday. Sprinkles cupcakes, champagne and appetisers were also on hand courtesy of a Jamaican chef, while the glow of Tiki torches added to the desert ambience.

Chris Brown had a progress report hearing last Thursday in Los Angeles. The 20-year old R&B singer was praised by the judge noting that he was doing very well by fulfilling the terms of his probation related to last year’s assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Chris has already attended 17 of the required 52 domestic violence classes and has completed 32 days of his 180-day total sentence of hard labor. He is due back in court for May 11 for another progress report hearing. With that, the judge said that Chris can now travel out of the country, provided that he gets permission in advance. The judge has already signed an order allowing him to travel out of the country for concerts from May 18 to June 27.

Rihanna has a new music video out for her song ‘Rude Boy’. The highly stylized video was directed by Melina Matsoukas who also helmed the video for ‘Hard’. When the Barbadian singer was asked about her latest release, she said “[The video] completely different from any other video I’ve shot before. A lot of my videos are really dark and edgy and tough. ‘Rude Boy’ is more playing along the lines from my roots… We used a lot of color, but also the costumes were very Jamaican dance-hall queen type.” It’s definitely a departure from the last couple of videos that she’s put out.

Rihanna is grieving the loss of a six-year-old girl who died of leukaemia.
Jasmina Anema, who was the face of the DKMS America One for Jasmina charity campaign, had befriended Rihanna, Kelly Rowland and Lamar Odom.
Rihanna in a statement said: “I am incredibly heartbroken that Jasmina has passed away. She was such a brave and special child. She showed more strength and spirit than many adults I have met. I feel blessed that I was able to have her in my life, and know that through her example, she has saved many lives. She was truly an angel on Earth.”
Odom, meanwhile, took to his Twitter page to say: “I’m very sad to hear that my little friend, Jasmina, lost her battle with leukaemia. My prayers are with her family.”
The little girl had been given a bone marrow transplant in a bid to boost her immunity through blood cell production after a donor had been found in a nationwide search. She was diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease, NK leukaemia. She died at NYU Langone Medical Center after developing pneumonia in both lungs.
Prospective donors to her cause can visit DKMSAmericas.org or OneForJasmina.com.

Rihanna is featured on the cover of the February 2010 issue of W Magazine. The 21-year old Barbadian singer spoke to the magazine about the best part of her day and her fashion sense, among other things. When the beauty was asked if she ever wished to just be back in her hometown and live a quiet life, Rihanna said “Oh no, I never fantasize about that. Because if I were back there, I know I’d be fantasizing about all this.” And speaking of fantasizing – I’m sure a lot of people will, men and women alike, after they see the cover and the photos included in her spread.

Rihanna is showing off how big her heart is by taking it upon herself to help a young Olympic hopeful fight Leukemia. 26-year old Seun Adebiyi from Nigeria wrote a letter to the pop star asking for her help in finding a bone marrow donor. Along with ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Justin Chambers, the singer is now doing all she can to help the athlete fight his disease and compete in the Winter Olympics. Rihanna said “Leukemia interrupted Seun’s dream of being the first Nigerian in the Winter Olympics, but together we can help him make his dream come true. We need to find him a bone marrow donor! Please sign up with DKMS!”

In a recent interview with GQ, Rihanna once again opened up about her ordeal with Chris Brown. The singer specifically talked more about the fall out of the abuse and how she dealt with it all. When asked who helped her through one of the most difficult times of her life, the Barbadian beauty said “Nobody. Really, just the music. And working. ‘Cause I really didn’t want to be around anybody, for them to stare at me and stuff, and feel sorry for me. So I just stayed in the house a lot. Then I started to get cabin fever. I was like, I’m going crazy in here.”

It appears that Chris Brown has decided to do the world a small favor by getting rid of his Twitter account. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in feeling sick of the allusions to Rihanna and just his mindless musings in general. Too bad for the R&B singer, no one really cares about his sinking music career or anything he has to say. If he really wanted to get some praise, he would shut up altogether. I bet people will actually start to applaud if that were to happen. He really needs to realize that no one cares and no one’s going to start caring any time soon.

Chris Brown’s 20/20 interview didn’t really have anything in it that’s new regarding the domestic violence incident with his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. The R&B singer said “I was wrong for what I did. And I would definitely say that it’s not something that I look past or look over. [It's] something that’s really, really touchy. And, like I said, I’m really sorry for what went down, and [for] what happened.” That’s pretty much the same thing that he’s been saying ever since he decided to talk about it. I just wish that he could figure out that no one is listening to him and believing a word that he says.

‘Britain’s Got Talent’ alum Susan Boyle is on the top spot of the Billboard charts this week with her album ‘I Dreamed a Dream’. The 48-year old singer sold 701,000 copies of her debut album. The YouTube sensation is followed by Eminem who sold 608,000, Adam Lambert who sold 198,000, Rihanna who sold 181,000 and Lady Gaga who sold 174,000. Susan now holds the record for the biggest first week sales of any album for this year and the largest ever sales debut for a female artist. Now that is impressive! Congratulations Susan! Let’s hope you keep it together long enough for you to actually enjoy all of this.

The singer was recently spotted by the paparazzi and pictures were taken. In those pictures there appears to be a very disturbing white stain on Rihanna’s pants, on the left leg to be more accurate. Now anybody can understand the occasional donut sugar powder stains or whatnot, but some cannot help but speculate. Rihanna should really be a lot more careful with these little accidents that might affect her newly highly improved popular image. We wouldn’t want Chris Brown to get the upper hand in the race for supporters just yet, now would we? All of Rihanna’s recent heavy confessionals would have been for nothing then.

Susan Boyle fever is definitely back! The singer’s new album ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ may have exceeded everyone’s expectations, even her own. The YouTube sensation has already sold two to three times the estimated pre-release total for retailers. Not to mention having set the highest pre-order record of all time at Amazon. Susan is expected to move over half a million copies of her debut album and outsell some big names like Rihanna, Adam Lambert and even Lady Gaga. With that number on her side, Susan may end up having the biggest debuts of the year in the US. Wow!

The century’s great musicians appear together in a novel project that took a year to complete.
Q Magazine in the UK has compiled the musicians’ equivalent to the Vanity Fair covers that put together great actresses of the day in high art cover shoots. There is one difference: the musicians do not assemble for the portrait: they are digitally stitched together.
Bono, The Edge, Amy Winehouse, Sir Paul McCartney, Rihanna and Lily Allen are among the musicians to feature on the Artists of the Century cover.
Q Editor Paul Rees said: “All of the 34 artists are there because they have significantly shaped or connected with our readers’ lives in the past 10 years. As such they represent a reflection of the breadth and diversity of Q’s musical world. It took us a year to put together the Artists of the Century issue but I think the end result makes all that time and effort more than worth it. We had a long discussion about who is the list. We wanted Take That and Jay Z but sadly we just couldn’t make it happen.”

‘Rated R’ is seemingly not her most promising musical endeavor but Rihanna is reminding all of her fans that her music is still amazing. The Barbadian babe is releasing a box set containing her first three hit albums, ‘Music of the Sun’, ‘A Girl Like Me’, ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’, and a space for a fourth. Well that’s clever! The collection is due to hit sores on December 15th while ‘Rated R’ is already out now. Will you be buying the singer’s collection? I know everyone’s wary of buying the fourth album but the first three are sure worth it!
Posted in Kings of Leon, Lil Wayne, Rihanna on the November 23, 2009
Rihanna recently spoke to Glamour magazine to talk about her new album and the sort of support that she’s looking for. The Barbadian singer said “If Lil’ Wayne and Kings of Leon like my [new] album, then I’ll feel good. I would not change anything about it. Even if people don’t love it, I made exactly the piece of art that I wanted to make.” Odd choice of artists to listen to when it comes to what matters but I have to agree that separately, the rapper and the band are pretty influential. I wonder if they heard Rihanna’s album and whether they liked it or not.
