X Factor boss Simon Cowell has said his fellow judge Cheryl Cole is now more popular than him.
The 50-year-old star said he had to persuade Cole, 26, to join the show as she was hesitant at first.
He said to UK magazine new!: “I had to really, really twist Cheryl’s arm because she didn’t know how good she was going to be.
“I kept saying to her: ‘If you do this, not only is it going to be great for the show, but I think it’s going to be great for you.’ And she must now be the most popular person on TV – more than me! Annoying, but it happens.”

There has just been one more amazing addition to the long list of celebrities who want to take Simon Cowell’s place as judges on American Idol. The newest addition is none other than Jamie Foxx. It seems he might even have a chance too since one source inside the contest names him a “strong contender”. Jamie Foxx would certainly be a breath of fresh air compared to Simon Cowell, that is if he uses his natural born talents during the contest. But the list is still growing and who knows what marvelous names Jamie Foxx will be up against. He may not have such a rich musical background, but hey, it’s not like the show really is about music.

Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart and JLS will join the stellar list of performers on the Simon Cowell engineered single for Haiti – REM’s moving ballad Everybody Hurts.
The emotional song will be pitched at earning into the millions for victims of the devastating quake that was estimated to have claimed 100,000 lives.
Cult rock band REM said they were “deeply touched” that their song was chosen for the Cowell and Sun newspaper appeal, Helping Haiti, with lead singer Michael Stipe giving his blessing.
Leona Lewis said: “You can definitely count me in. What happened in Haiti is absolutely heartbreaking.”
Meanwhile, a string of soulful pop rockers that include Rod Stewart and Michael Bublé, George Michael, Robbie Williams, Sir Paul McCartney, Take That and Coldplay are also in talks to join the project.
The song will be released by Sony later this month.
Cowell said: “We have a short time to do this and the people in Haiti need as much help as we can give them as soon as possible. I’d like to make this record with as many different types of singer as we can.”

Although Simon Cowell will be leaving American Idol to launch The X Factor in the US, CKX, the parent company to 19 Entertainment, is expecting to renew the contract for the hit reality TV competition show. CKX’s CEO Robert Sillerman said “As talented as Cowell is…’Idol’s’ future with this long-term extension is guaranteed.” When asked about the extension of the show, Fox entertainment chairman Peter Rice said “Our expectation is that ‘Idol’ will run for many, many, many, many, many more seasons.” Maybe the excitement for new judge Ellen DeGeneres could make the difference for all those saying that AI just won’t work without Simon.

TV personality Piers Morgan has said he would love to be a judge on the US version of The X Factor.
Morgan, 44, is already a judge on America’s Got Talent as well as Britain’s Got Talent, which he judges alongside Simon Cowell, 50.
Cowell recently revealed his plans to take the hit UK talent series across the pond to the US, and Morgan would love to be involved.
He said: “I would love to work with Simon on it as we have a laugh on Britain’s Got Talent. I give him quite a lot of stick and he quite likes it. Americans would find it hysterical.”
He added: “If I was offered that job, I wouldn’t say no. It is a job everyone wants.”

As he announced earlier this week, Simon Cowell is saying goodbye to American Idol and bringing in his UK success to the US. Simon will be judging on the American version of The X Factor next year instead of renewing his Idol contract. While it sounds all good to US viewers, the Brits are actually pissed at the snarky judge as it seems that he is attempting to stay with both editions of the show, which would require them not to be slated at the same time. The US is shooting to premiere the show next fall which is the exact time slot that the UK has always had for the program. There’s bound to be a scramble at who will get the time slot and Simon.

Just who will replace America’s star judge on American Idol is a question hanging over the new season of the show that is now minus Simon Cowell.
Finding a replacement for outgoing judge Paula Abdul posed enough of a challenge, with countless top-knotch celebs filling guest spots before Ellen DeGeneres surfaced to take the spot.
Idol and Spice Girls creator Simon Fuller noted an outpouring of celebrity interest around the world.
“A day doesn’t pass that I don’t get a call from an agent of a superstar saying, ‘Can we talk?’ … Everyone’s interested, and that’s going to go on month after month,” Fuller said.
He added: “It’s a testament to it [Idol] that we attracted someone as brilliant as Ellen. When we have to do something about Simon, I’ll be in the luxury position of looking at all the greatest stars of the world. We can do so much with it.”
Fuller, whose company, 19 Entertainment, produces Idol with FremantleMedia North America, said he has enjoyed seeing the chemistry emerge between DeGeneres and Cowell. The pair could probably not be more culturally opposite – even in showbiz terms.

Simon Cowell says he won’t approach Victoria Beckham for the US version of The X Factor.
While hinting he would like to work with former American Idol judge Paula Abdul, Cowell said Victoria “Posh” Beckham didn’t stand much of a chance of making it on the new judging panel. “I never approached her. Never have, never will. I don’t know where these rumors come from,” said Cowell.
The former Spice Girl appeared as a guest judge in the latest opening episode of American Idol which aired in the US last night.
But Cowell – who will leave American Idol at the end of the season to pursue an American version of The X Factor – said rumours of a permanent spot for Posh are completely false.
He did, however, hint Paula Abdul could return to the judging business.
Abdul left American Idol at the end of last season after failing to agree to contract terms with the US Fox network.
“Paula has been talking to me for months,” Cowell said. “I’ve always made it clear that in some capacity I want to work with Paula again. It might be here, it might be in England.
“I adore Paula. I miss her.”

TV judge Simon Cowell has admitted he decided to quit American Idol for The X Factor because he feared viewers would get ’sick and tired’ of him if he did both US shows.
Acid-tongued Cowell told how he agonized over the decision and only finally agreed the move minutes before he announced it on Monday.
He told American Idol host Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show: “I thought about it. One moment I was going to do both shows but then I genuinely thought people would be sick and tired of me.”
Cowell revealed the decision was in the balance almost up to the last minute – and claimed the big announcement was nearly called off.
He said: “We were driving down to do the press conference and we didn’t have an agreement.
“At one point at about 11.30am we were thinking we were not going to do the press conference because we didn’t have an agreement.
“We signed the agreement in front of all those people.”
Cowell admitted he is ‘very sad’ to be leaving American Idol.
But he added: “I think you have got to know when it’s time to go.
“I had always wanted to bring this other show over here and at one point I was going to do both shows.
“But you know about over-exposure Ryan. You can’t be on TV too much.”

In an effort to up their sales, Rage Against the Machine threw down the gauntlet to Simon Cowell and his X Factor protégé Joe McElderry, urging fans to ignore the so-called monotony music put out by the reality star in favor of the band’s 1992 hit ‘Killing in the Name’. Simon has gotten wind of the campaign and was quoted in saying to the press “All these musical snobs have ganged up against Joe. If you take me out of the equation, you have a teenager with his first single being attacked by a huge hate mob on Facebook. It almost feels like a little kid being bullied. It feels like a spiteful campaign aimed at an 18-year-old who won a talent competition. It’s David versus Goliath and it’s not fair on Joe. It’s getting out of hand.”

They may not have a Christmas album coming out but that’s not going to stop Rage Against the Machine from dominating the UK music charts this holiday season. In order to stop Simon Cowell’s X Factor kids from hitting the top spot with their Christmas tracks, the rock band is urging fans to download their 1992 hit ‘Killing in the Name’. The Facebook group which spearheads the campaign touted “Fed up of Simon Cowell’s latest karaoke act being Christmas No 1? Me too… So who’s up for a mass-purchase of the track Killing In The Name as a protest to the X Factor monotony?” Simon is not going to be happy.

Simon Cowell’s bosses at Sony BMG have reportedly bestowed a lavish Christmas gift on the star judge in the form of a commissioned painting worth £1 million.
The painting, by the UK street artist Banksy, is a mock Cowell portrait in a reproduction from the 1874 Edgar Degas masterpiece Rehearsal of the Ballet on Stage.
The UK Mirror claims: “Sony wanted something totally unique and special to give to Simon – but he’s not the easiest man to buy for. He’s a secret art collector and loves the work of Edgar Degas – plus he’s a huge fan of Banksy. Banksy decided to mock up one of Degas’ most famous works, superimposing Simon’s beaming head onto the ballet master. In it, Simon looks like he’s judging the girl, and deciding whether or not he has the X Factor. Simon took one look at the painting and fell about laughing. He declared it ‘hilarious’ and commissioned two prints to be made so he could have paintings of him all around the world.”

Danyl Johnson lost out on the weekend’s X Factor to Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon and Joe McElderry.
Danyl, who was Simon Cowell’s contestant, has had a soap opera ride on the show, after claims he was a diva and bearing the brunt of a gaffe judge Dannii Minogue made about his sexuality.
But he gracefully accepted his defeat and hugged Solomon who goes on to the next final.
He said: “I might have gone out in the semi-final but I’ve gone out to some of the best people I’ve ever met.”
Cowell, meanwhile, who had a run-in with Danyl over the choice of song, said he was “genuinely upset” about the outcome.
He said on the show: “There is nothing more I could have done. It’s just one of those things. He has gone out on a high.”
Danyl, who is a teacher, said of his future: “I’m just going to see what happens. I’m looking forward to seeing my family and friends and maybe play a couple of gigs.”
Lady GaGa and Janet Jackson performed on The X Factor. GaGa, who is storming up the American charts with her songs, was asked to give advice to the X Factor wanna-bes. She said: “Be yourself. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that you can’t achieve your dreams.”

Simon Cowell has drawn the line at Lady GaGa’s demands for fluffy lambs and hundreds of butterflies to enhance her upcoming appearance on The X-Factor.
An X Factor source told Britain’s Daily Mirror: “Simon wanted her on the show because he knows she will put 110 per cent into the performance. She has never done anything mediocre since she hit the charts.”
But despite telling GaGa she could have whatever she wanted for the show, Cowell and ITV were not prepared for her demand, which may or may not have been poking fun at a similar reported request by Mariah Carey. The paper says the animal gathering may have been a violation of health and safety regulations.
Now instead of the creatures and their accompanying zookeepers, GaGa’s gig will feature semi-naked male dancers.
GaGa, who has become a world sensation in recent months and garnered Grammy Award nominations this week, will perform her hit song Bad Romance on the show.

Simon Cowell is reportedly set to make a fortune this Christmas as six of his acts are said to be up for four spots in the Christmas charts.
The 50-year-old music mogul is the favourite to take the top spot at Christmas and his artists are also set to take the albums chart by storm.
The X Factor finalists recently shot to number one in the UK with their charity single You Are Not Alone and it is likely to still be around at Christmas.
X Factor 2006 winner Leona Lewis’s single I See You is out on December 15 and Susan Boyle’s single Wild Horses will be released as well as her album I Dreamed A Dream.
The artists will also be up against whichever X Factor finalist takes the crown and they will release their debut single before Christmas.

Simon Cowell is the top earner on US television, according to Forbes magazine – with fellow Brit Hugh Laurie making it into the top 10.
The music tycoon, who became a sensation across the pond through his shows American Idol and America’s Got Talent, is the top-earning man on primetime US television with an estimated haul of £45m in a year.
He beat out The Apprentice host Donald Trump, who came in second with £30m, and American Idol presenter Ryan Seacrest, who came in third with £22m.
But Cowell was not the only Brit in the top ten – Hugh Laurie, who went from comedian to award-winning dramatic lead with medical hit House, was number nine in Forbes.com’s list.
Rounding up the top five are Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen, with £12m, and Steve Carell, who stars in the US version of The Office, with £12m.
The top 10 was based on estimated pre-tax earnings from June 2008 to June 2009.

Simon Cowell has said he is “public enemy No 1″ for saving the controversial twins on the show.
The 50-year-old music mogul had the chance to send twins John and Edward, 18, home on the recent results show but instead put it back to the public vote where they were saved and fellow contestant Lucie Jones was sent home.
Three thousand viewers complained to TV channel ITV – and angry comments soon surfaced on the show’s websites.
Simon said: “I’m going to get a lot of flak for my decision. I’ll be public enemy No 1. People always like to disagree with me, but I know this will be more controversial than usual.
“There will be people who are Lucie fans and think she should have been given a chance.”

It seems that Adam Lambert has really gone far-off with his career ever since he competed in American Idol… he didn’t even win first place, either. It seems that Adam Lambert has recently released a video for his song, “Time for Miracles”, which will actually be featured on the upcoming movie’s “2012” soundtrack. Really smooth for Adam Lambert… new album, soundtrack songs, the guy has really done great. Simon Cowell must be very, very proud… while twisting his moustache and pondering world-domination scenarios. Adam Lambert really is a true product of American Idol and an inspiration to future generations of music-industry front-line workers. The system salutes him!

Simon Cowell has vowed to battle for more help for children’s hospices.
The 50-year-old has said he would even do a “Jamie Oliver” and take the plight to the Prime Minister at Number 10 Downing Street.
Cowell was speaking at the CHASE hospice for children in Arlington, Surrey, and dismissed his ‘Mr Nasty’ image and said he had been secretly visiting the hospice for nearly five years.
He said: “I’ve never considered myself to be nasty. I would absolutely do a Jamie at Downing Street. I’ll knock on their door or they can come round to mine for supper. I’ll do whatever it takes to help raise awareness.”

Simon Cowell has said he was “stunned” that someone assaulted Leona Lewis at a recent book signing.
The 50-year-old X Factor judge said that he was shocked when Leona, 24, was punched by a man at a signing for her new book.
He said to British newspaper the Daily Star: “I was stunned anyone would want to attack her. We need to make sure she is protected.”
Simon also gave his views on the sudden death of Boyzone star Stephen Gately, who was recently found dead in his Majorca apartment.
He said: “I was shocked about Stephen. He was a charming, polite young man not affected by fame. It’s made me realise not to take life too seriously.
“You never know what’s round the corner.”
